Okay, here's the thing. I watch horror movies all the time.I watch them to relax. They do not scare me.
So I wanted to check out the Paranormal Activity movie with the fiancee, just to see if I would be scared.

Your description displays my thought exact. I've seen all 4, and the 4th one (snuck in on opening weekend; I'm that crazy for 14!) gave me paranoia and nightmares so bad, I was convinced and SO SCARED of Katie standing right over me when I was in bed (HAD to have the covers over my head).

I actually walked out of Paranormal Activity 2 with my friend at the theatre xD We were so freaking scared! Next weekend I'm going to go see number 3, which looks scarier then both movies combined if you've seen the extensive trailer.

I breathe horror movies. I've watched the first six Saw movies, Poltergeist, and every zombie known to man and laughed.
I only saw the second half of Paranormal Activity, but I know one thing:
I will never get any fucking sleep again. Ever.
Every 'night' scene I would flip out in fear, and at the end I even screamed. And I never scream during horror movies.
And you know how in the end, the girl just smiles into the camera for a couple of seconds?
Yeah that face is haunting my nightmares for the rest of my life.
