What is your technique to make the figures still look like
smoke, yet very specific at the same time?

thank you! the technique lies in the quality of the used material, oilpaint with medium (liquin from w&n) if you apply the paint in thin layers and smudge it a bit, you get a somewhat transparent smokey effect. but I really couldn't tell how I did it exactly...
