So what exactly is this tank armed with? I notice that the "disembodied" guns are notΒ similar to anything that's actually on the tank. And those triangular shapes... are these openings for a missile launching system, like a horizontal version of the real-life VLS?

That is due to the on hull weapons having defense and cooling shrouds. The panels cover dual role lateral launch tubes for snub counter munition / medium SAM work and spotting drones.Β

Well, how are we supposed to tell which weapon is which, then? The huge main gun gets a pass, but the other guns are a different story.

A vehicle that size, even using very advanced and futuristic alloys, would be so egregiously heavy that it would have to keep moving or risk sinking into even moderately soft ground. A real world idea of this Tank's weight; the Yamato-class battleships of WW2, their main battery turrets, which were armed with three 18.1" guns each, weighed as much as a destroyer at that point in time, so around 3,000 tons PER TURRET.

This was written up for a post modern tech roleplaying group (ten years ago! grave dig man) so yes advanced alloys and synthetic would be available as would be jamming a very hot fission stack into a platform this small.

Treads for ground-pressure per square inch/cm are great and if your not doing geological surveys for the movement of vehicles with similar mass indices to major mining platforms then your not doing your movement right. Β

Further..

Because someone is wrong on the internet and its ten to four in the morning.Β

49.8 metres long . 14.4 wide call it 6 meters of tread at 40 odd meters long on the ground that is 240 square meters of tread surface on the ground to dissipate 3250 tons, that is thirteen and a half tons per square meter BECAUSE ground pressure is calculated in STINKING PASCALS we must convert that to 27000 pounds and 1550 Β inches per square meter or seventeen pounds point four pounds per square inch while not in motion.

Which is more than an M1 at 15 PSI but less than a Toyota hilux at 25. Β

Yamato had tripple conventional 18inch guns not double ETC guns in slim mounts, I simply dont countenance mounting the same protection levels on ..well lets call it an early mark bolo. Β

Vizzardrix, i'll say it up front. i do NOT have an advanced physics degree, never set foot on a college campus as a student, honestly. what i DO have is a desire to learn as much as possible while i still draw breath

do you even know the meaning of the word OVERKILL that thing could and most likely would be able to wipe out the combined might of most of the armies in the world right now!!! Also how huge is it exactly I mean I can't really tell but I'd probably say from looking at it it's at least taller than a 3 story building.

Look at the image. Now look at the amount of caffiene you have had. Look at the image again. Look at the base of the image. Words occur. They include the dimensions.

Holy snikies that's a huge ass monster of a thing O_O;;; I'd not want to be anywhere in the path of such a thing. I imagine it would operate in places where the ground would be able to support it's weight because it must weigh something crazy. Very nicely done technical illustration, quite detailed indeed
