((Whoa, awesome. This idea is great. Everything is so abstract yet it looks kind of realistic in a way.... I also like the little points of iridescence here and there. Unfortunately, I am not very familiar with this type of art, so it is hard for me to say things about it... Anyways, brilliant job!))

Fractals never seize to amaze me; it's computer generated, yet it looks so real and organic..I can actually imagine the textures of each "material" in the piece because it looks so real xD Love it

Nice work, struggled to get the 3d effect working, wonder if its because the images are touching each other.

evilskills In reply to Schmiegel [2012-11-12 21:18:18 +0000 UTC]

Haha! The great Schmiegel himself. I can't figure out yet how on earth you can render those amazing SSS textures. Thanks for stopping by, man!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Schmiegel In reply to evilskills [2012-11-12 21:51:50 +0000 UTC]

The SSS textures are an amazing feature of Blender ... a bit painful to learn but well covered in tutorials - considering I never got more from Apophysis than noise - you shouldn't have problems

evilskills In reply to Schmiegel [2012-11-13 17:04:41 +0000 UTC]

Thanks Schmiegel, I should give it a shot. I believe there is a SSS in Vray + 3Dmax too, but haven't played with it either. Oh well; so many fields, so little time. Btw, this is not Apo, but Jwildfire . It has many of Apo's features and fractal 3D voxel export so I definately switched!

Schmiegel In reply to evilskills [2012-11-13 22:55:47 +0000 UTC]

I was so sure it was Apo - getting old

If you find an SSS option in the renderer of your choice give it a shot. Tried Voxel export from MB3D but the mesh tool of my choice could not process it ...
Looking forward to your Voxel based SSS renderings
