Description A large worm-like organism that dwells on the bottom of the ocean. As a carnivore, its body is not well suited for taking down prey. Its soft flesh and thin frame make it easily damaged or killed. Any prey that is caught could harm it as it struggles. So the Nerve Trap keeps them from struggling. The moment prey swims close enough, the Nerve Trap lurches forward and snares it in its many arms. Immediately the thin arms burrow in the victim's flesh and hijack the nervous system. Sending out electrical signals of its own, it cancels out all signals sent from the brain, effectively shutting down the prey's body. There is no struggle or fight as the prey is reeled in. It remains oblivious to its fate, even as the hidden mouth emerges and begins to gnaw at their flesh.

I could picture something doing this. Instead of cnidocytes injecting venom through harpoon-shaped organelles, high-speed fibers could be shot into the tissue until hitting a neuron. This could give the creature some interesting abilities beyond simply shocking the prey into submission. It would probably work best for very small animals.
