Description Quickish sketch of a bmw, decided to give it some color, since I noticed that I hadn't used my markers in a while

I always use chartpak markers ([link] ), because they don't bleed the biro work like other markers

Well, I think they're a good investment. I've tried copics and found the chartpaks easier to work with.

Wow that's an oustanding sketch! Very striking and dynamic, but also very accurate in the perspective and render. Did you use Chartpak markers?

Thank you very much! Yes, chartpak markers are the only sort I use, others tend to smudge the biro work.
Thanks for the fav too

You're welcome!

But yeah that's what I figured. I was using some Pantone Tria's before but they replaced them with shitty new Tria's so I decided to buy Copics. I really love how crisp they are but I just hate how they spread the biro ink and turn it blue. I think I might opt for Chartpaks once my copics run out of ink.

I've used copics too, I can't remember much about them apart from the fact that I didn't like them
Once I made the switch from copics to chartpaks I felt a lot more confident with markers.

Hey I just noticed on your profile that you are 14... That just blew my mind!! How can you draw that well already?? I'm jealous.

Keep it up and you'll reach the top!

Hahah, I guess it's just practice... designing cars is my ambition

Very impressive, how do you improvise these kinds of shades? Is it something you memorize where you just secretly draw the same reflections on each concept or do you just make random dark and light shapes?

Love the concept, maybe you should go in depth on those rims.

Thanks
Knowing where the reflections and different shades should be comes from practice, observing photos and whatever's on the street.
I'd have a basic idea of where the light is coming from, which way the surfaces of my design are facing (towards the light or not), and where my horizon line is. From those three things you can work out which areas should be dark and which should be light.

Yeah, I tend to use the same rims every time. I'll vary them

Haha well I understand how light and reflections work, but it still kills me when I see them done so nicely, I usually just draw palm trees and road barriers on the side but its just so confusing I never know what to do.

Hehe, well I think that with this sort of drawing, simplicity is what you need, no crazy reflections, just the horizon line. I'll be uploading a sketch tutorial soon, won't cover this though. Maybe in another.

Infact, I intended it to be a BMW so that's okay then
I'll be doing a car sketching tutorial soon... drawing side views of cars to begin with will help

Thanks for your comment and fav.
