The pink rose swallowtail has to be one of my favorites butterflies of all time I love their colors and huge wings. This is a really nice shot. Very clear, vibrant, and detailed!

It's not native to Ohio It is in a Butterfly house which is similar to a botanical conservatory. They have mostly exotic butterflies.

A shame that the bottoms of the wings are fuzzy, but it doesn't really matter

did I do that wow that is way to big lol sorry about that its fixed....what had happened was...mum told me it was a Pink Spotted Swallowtail...and so I posted it as that yesterday I went around looking up the spiffy scientific names for them only to realize this was not a Pink Spotted Swallowtail but a Pink Rose Swallowtail instead...the Pink Spotted is not nearly as pretty So I had to re-edit the whole darn thing to say Pink Rose and silly me forgot to take the print size down to 1000 at the longest side thanks for telling me

I can definitely see why this got first. Again a wonderful capture. The colors are beautiful and vibrant. It looks more red then pink though...in that sense are the colors a bit wrong? (not wrong per se just off...) I love how simple this is.

Uhhh....why doesnt anyone ever e-mail me when they come into town!! The butterfly house is about 2 minutes from my dads house.

Anyway, great capture! I take hundreds of photos when I go and always end up with scraps at best.

Another prime example of your artistic vision.

that is the strangest butterfly i have ever seen. It kinda looks animated and the flowers are splochy. I dont think that matter tho since the focous was the butterfly which i believe you captured perfectly

You should check into finding a Butterfly house close to you you never know you just might find one.

Google doesn't help me at all, I found one in Sweeden and one in Denmark, but none in Norway. One in planning FAR away from me... I'll dig more into it, I really want to go to one!

I love the framing in this. It's very well composed, and the colors are so nice. BTW, nice choice in frame color . The background is beautifully blurred out too, which along with the colors, really makes this pop. I'm also jealous that you have an awesome macro lens.
