Description
So following the Nationalist defeat and retreat to Taiwan by the Chinese Communist forces the People's Liberation Army (PLA) had a Marine Corps set up to conduct a cross channel invasion of Taiwan and crush Republic of China (ROC) forces. In 1957 the plans to take Taiwan by force were dropped and the PLA's Marine Corps was disbanded. In 1979 the People's Republic of China (PRC) reformed the Marines as two brigades under the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) (I hope that sounds better in Mandarin because it sounds F***ed up in English). The PLAN Marine Corps adopted a modified version of the ERDL / M81 pattern in a blue, black, olive, and a very pale blue coloration. Many pictures brought up during a Google Image search for PLAN Marines will have Chinese in this colored uniforms. However this pattern was dropped in 1999AD in favor of a more "Urban" colorazied pattern, and that was dropped when the PLA, PLAN, People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) created their own digital pattern and each started putting their own colors in. The PLAN and PLAN Marine Corps uses these same colors in their version of the Type 07 Pixelated Camouflage.

Now here is where this gets weird... I found this on an kids Easter Basket this spring at a local department store! This is the outside cover for the bottom of the basket!

Yeah I was lazy and slapped this one on my scanner as well.
