Thanks Rainy. Alchemy is a vector based program used for sketching with abandon and coming up with all sorts of random silhouettes. Its capabilties are awesome, check out the above poster, dasAdam's gallery when you get the chance and you will see what you can do with it. You can also do colors in it, not just black and white.

Also, here is the website, [link]

nice sketches
but you basically have two pathes to choose from
one is creating more or less unconcrete silhouettes which can spark someones imagination
or concrete ones where a distinctive design is going on which is readable

id find it more interesting without the details you added. they simply cast away the magic. there is almost nothing to interpret anymore.
maybe you should concentrate on the silhouette more. come up with funky shapes first and then maybe add a bit of details. the details shouldnt dominate the silhouette. they wont help if the silhouette itself has nothing to offer

cheers mate
i hope you enjoy doing these
just let loose a bit

Thank you for the comment dasAdam. I'll take the advice to heart. Also I do enjoy these things but sometimes as you say I need to loosen up.

On a side not, what do you think of this; [link] , this; [link] , and this; [link] . That last one was started in alchemy but alot of the details were lost as I continued to work in the Gimp, just a few strokes are left visible.

kk

ah well there is not much to say actually. you didnt try to take them much further to get nice illustrations. id say ou spent some more time on your pieces and add proper backgrounds
also the shading you applied is very sketchy and doesnt reveal a concrete lightsource.
so yeah theres really not much to say. as these pieces are just sketches

Ok, thank you for taking the time to check them out. I'll be sure to give my next pieces some extra visual impact and make those that are meant to be illustrations actually look like illustrations. The piece "Cobra Hellion" was left at a sketchy stage on purpose as it was just a timed sketch of 2 hours. The other two pieces I had thought they could be called finished work, but I was wrong. Thanks for pointing out afew things like the lighting and shading.

its really tough to give critique when there is not much to look at ...sorry
i suggest you practice som shading in black and white. dont add color yet.
practice values first
paint a cube on a table. add a light source and a casted shadow. try to catch some realism

No problem. Thanks for the advice, will do. Still learning all that has to do with light and shadow. Its a continual process.
