This is a picture of my Amaterasu Fursuit version 2. It was taken by mrgetalife from ANEXT forums.My fursuit head does have a moving jaw, although it is the typical hook-in-cheek method. The main structure for the head is wire, lined with felt and fur. The jaw teeth are made of crayola model magic.
The fabric I managed to get my hands on was a very light, cheap 'minky fur' so says ebay. It was a very easy costume to wear to both AnimeNEXT 08 and MangaNEXT 08, and it will make a re-appearance at AN 09.
The only difference between this version and the old one is that my torso was made of a different fabric than the head/paws due to time restraints. This time, every part is made out of the same fabric, and the feet-paws and hand paws were redone as well, because AN was muddy.

What kind of foam did you use to form the head ( if you did use foam). I'm going to a con soon and I want to cosplay as Alakazam from Pokemon but I wanted to get some advice from someone with experience with the process.

Actually, I don't use foam. I bend a worse frame myself from 16 gauge wire. (I cover the sharp, pointy ends with large blobs of hot-glue for safety)
It's essentially like putting a wire cage around your head, so I don't recommend it. That being said, it's my favorite way to make masks for myself. ^^

I don't yet! All this time I was preparing to pick it up the first day of release, just like I did with Okami... But then life happened and I still haven't gotten to it. It's a real shame. ;^;

What Length of Fur was did you use? I can't seem to figure out how long of fur I need to order.

"Eyelash Fabric" usually only comes in one length, but I went and measured and the pile I got was about 1" fur. I only needed about 3 yards of it, and I'm 5 feet tall, just to give you an idea!

That is a great Ammy Fursuit! 8D And you said the jaw moves! Amazing! I've neeeever heard of a fursuit that did that! One of the best (if not THE best) Okami suit I've seen! Great Job!

Thank you! You have no idea how helpful those links are going to be. X3 now I just need to find a place that sells fauxfur around where I live. Then ideas will be bouncing like no tomarrow 8D I can't wait to get started!
The pictures are really great, saves me the effort of visualizing! May I ask why you use wire? Is it cheaper or easier to work with? (and what about comfort doesn't the wire cut your skin?)

Oh! I'm glad I could help out! :3 I don't have any fur places around where I live, so I usually end up buying online at ebay, plushfurs.com, imstuffedfur.com, or distinctivefabric.com.
I'm glad I could help! I'm going to start another mask soon, so I should have more pictures in the future. XD
I use wire for a lot of reasons, actually. Foam is thick, and it tends to crack under pressure, whereas wire is flexible. One of my masks suffered falling down the stairs and it did no damage. Another mask of mine was found by one of my doggies and chewed on, and though the model magic teeth didn't survive, the wire frame held fast.
I also use wire because if the mask is made mostly of wire + Fabric, it's cooler to wear. A lot of time thick foam masks will build up heat.
I prevent it from cutting my face by using hot glue (which turns to a plastic of sorts) to seal off any joints (except the moving jaw). So none of the cut pieces will catch my face or hair. Then I add a cotton type fabric inside of the frame just to reassure that. :3
