Description I got a bunch of friends to accompany me this year to AnimeNEXT 2009 in Somerset, NJ.

My friend Senshi was Oki, I made Kutone for her. The blue glow on the blade didn't come out as blue as I had hoped. :/

Another friend of mine was Samickle. She was short on time and cash, but I still think it looked fantastic. Especially since she had never played the game. :3

My mother was Princess Fuse, I worked out the yukata and canine warriors orb weapon for her. Looking up and painting the Kanji was fun. :3

My brother was Issun x 1000, and his cosplay has a funny story behind it. XD We had to switch rooms the night before the con, and thought we left his Issun hat in the other room. The hotel was not very helpful at all, but we did meet up with the people staying in our old room and could not find the hat for anything. :C

So we traveled to the dealer's room, bought a new hat and stuck together a new Issun hat like McGuyver that you see here. The red markings were literally made with lipstick, the antannae were made with spare black fabric from another cosplay and trimmed poster board, and the green fabric was clipped from his cape. XD

...I don't think we did half bad! And we made it in time for the photoshoot!

Of course! My friends were Bakugami and Kasugami and my boyfriend was Shiranui when I was Ammy at AnimeNEXT 2013 and I may bring her back next year.

That sounds like an amazing group! I've never seen any variation of Bakugami or Kasugami cosplay. I have seen a Yumigami before, and I thought doing a Kazegami or Gekigami might be cool too, but I haven't gotten around to it.

If you do end up bringing her back, I hope she gets a good reception! I feel like the Okami franchise is one of those classics that everyone remembers and will never die. c:

Well, ive seen quite a number of Okami cosplays at AnimeNEXT over the last few years so Im glad to see some hardcore fans of the game! Lets hope that maybe Capcom releases a sequel (and not Okamiden!).

Bakugami's outfit was: a white lab coat-like jacket, which was tea-stained in a large tub of Earl Grey tea and iced tea (just a dash of that!) for two days, then dried and painted with fireworks and the Cherry Bomb brush stroke on the back. We had a black and red bandana around his forehead with the brush god head marking and "dust and ash" on his face.

Kasugami's outfit consisted of a white blouse, red sash, loose fitting pants, slip-in shoes, sheep ears and of course the giant gourd which she carried around on her back. Her makeup was mostly blush and red lipstick: the blush was done to give her a "drunken" appearance!

Oh goodness how cute!

Things like the dust and ash on Bakugami, and the blush on Kasugami are those small details that just add so much personality to it!

Unfortunately, Clover studios, the people responsible for Okami, were broken up by Capcom due to poor sales. Okami took a while to gain notoriety, and by then it was too late... That's why Okamiden wasn't as grand; it was a whole new group of people and Capcom trying to cash-in on Okami fans. A sequel is unlikely...

...But not completely impossible! Especially if people like you keep the memory alive! c:

We also decided that Baku's symbol on his head would be good on a headband because he'd wear one so ash and gun powder doesn't get all over his head lol.

I'm so glad you loved our group cosplay!

Yeah! I was Amaterasu. XD You were the Houndoom?! That's so awesome!!! I loved your costume!!

The fabric I used was something called, "Eyelash fabric". I found it on ebay pretty cheap, and the seller was really nice. It was actually really cool. Semi- see through though. I wore a light white leotard underneath.

My friend who was Oki used long pile acrylic fur, and she couldn't wear her cosplay very long. :'C

I think heat is the #1 problem with a well-made fursuit. :'C I wish more conventions were held in winter. XD
