Description this little (well by little i mean 4 foot long at least) rattler was in my back yard; he's in my dad's little path...)

thank god for zoom lenses.

stats:

canon 30d; auto (had no glasses on or time to worry about exposure)
70-200 4.0L

thanks to dad for keeping an eye on the snake for me lol depth perception is awful through a zoom lens.

(ps: this is me just realizing the submission process changed for the better... wow. lol.)

Most fantastic!!!

The infamous Eastern diamonback rattlesnake (Crotalus adamanteus). Increasingly hard to find in central Florida, due to development and people's nearly constant slaughtering of these beautiful and powerful animals.

This is a great shot. Snakes are tough to photograph when they're stretched out... Get the whole body and you can't see the detail! Zoom in on the head, and there's no reference of the body/shape. This is right in the middle, with a nice lateral wide crop. I like it quite a bit!!!

But now I want to find one to photograph myself...! lol

Awesome photo ~
