While this is a really awesome illustration on the art side, technically it's difficult to read at a glance, particularly the depth, since his sword and his shield have no apparent depth cues that separate themselves. It comes across a bit flat. The cape, doesn't depict a form change, of the cape wrapping around the figure, rather than being a curtain-drape kind of effect.

Very difficult to read, but still an awesome piece.

I'm reasonably sure that it's just a skull helmet, instead of it being his actual, exposed skull.

How does he see anything through those eye-holes, though? They look pretty shadowy.

Looks great. One small point ... a Centurion (Roman) had the crest transverse not front to back.  It made it easier for the men behind them to pick them out in a battle.
