Description Untold centuries ago in this Elseworld Universe a group of powerful Earth sorcerers left their home dimension in a quest to achieve ultimate mystic enlightenment and harmony founded the extra dimensional city state known as Azarath.  In an attempt to achieve perfect mental and spiritual harmony, the sorcerers purged themselves of all negative emotions by exorcising the dark passions of their souls from their bodies and casting it beyond the Great Dimensional Door of Azarath into the nether-realms between dimensions. This expelled mass of negative energy floated in the void for an unknown span of time before finally coalescing into a sentient entity of pure evil.

The demonic worshiping inhabitants of an extra dimensional world called Skath detected and eventually summoned this sentient evil from the ether where it impregnated itself within the high priestess of the world’s demonic order of worship. Nine months later the demonic being now known as Trigon the Terrible was born.

So malevolent an entity is Trigon that as an infant he killed the entire demonic order responsible for his physical birth including his own mother. As a child he conquered the entire planet of Skath and established it as his throne world.  As an adolescent he conquered his entire dimension and several million worlds within it that he did not destroy during his conquest. As an adult Trigon began traveling across the nether-realms in search of new dimensions to conquer.  Eventually casting his sight upon the dimension which is home to Earth, Trigon reveals his existence and connection to the inhabitants of Azarath hoping they will become tools to gaining him access to the Earth dimension. However having achieved some of the enlightenment that they sought and accepting that they were responsible for unleashing Trigon’s evil upon the universe, the Azarathians took up the task of acting as mystic defenders of the Earth dimension against the threat that Trigon posed to their former home dimension and seek to bring about his destruction.

Being an entity that was formed in the nether realms between dimensions, Trigon needed offspring to act as dimensional extensions of his demonic power to allow him full access into the dimensions he seeks to conquer that he otherwise does not possess. Over the span of centuries, Trigon sired many children across various dimensions in order to achieve his goals of dimensional conquest.   A great number of the children sired by Trigon were killed while they were infants or have rebelled against him when they reached adulthood and were destroyed by Trigon himself for their opposition.  However there are a small number of his offspring who survive and remain loyal to their sire aiding him in his goals of dimensional conquest.

Less than two decades ago on Earth, a woman named Angela Roth became involved with an occult group known as the Cult of Blood and took part in a mystic ceremony designed to call forth the demonic entity that the cult worshiped, who is revealed to be Trigon, to the Earthly dimension to take a “bride”. Roth naively believed the ceremony she was involved in was merely a symbolic one and that the manifested attractive human male form of Trigon was simply the enigmatic leader of the Cult of Blood, Brother Blood.,  It was only after she married him and it came time to consummate their union that Trigon revealed his true form to the horrified Angela Roth. Feeding off of her confusion and fear, Trigon proceeded to forcefully impregnate Roth and he had impregnated her abandoned her to the  “protective custody” of the Cult of Blood who now served in the role that Trigon intiailly sought to use the Azarathians in to achieve his goal of gaining dominion over our dimension.  Before Roth gave birth to the child of Trigon she was rescued by Azarathians who had infiltrated the Cult of Blood and taken to Temple Azarath, their home in the mystical dimensional city state of Azarath to insure that Trigon could not use the unborn child to enter the Earth dimension.

The Azarathians convince Angela Roth that they could safeguard the child from Trigon's influence. Angela agreed and she was provided with a new Azarathian name, Arella, which means the "The Messenger Angel".   Because she was tainted with some of Trigon’s mystical essence, Arella discovers she has a low level ability to manipulate mystic energies and begins to learn how to use this ability under the guidance of the Azarathians.  Arella gave birth to a daughter who was given the name of Raven.

Like Trigon himself, Raven is an empath with the psionic ability to sense and feel the emotions of others but has been taught all of her life to control and suppress the full extent of her inherited empathic demonic powers. When Raven turned fourteen years old, prompted by her nightmares of Trigon, she entered the Prime Temple of Azarath in order to open the Great Dimensional Door in an effect to confront Trigon and physically encountered her father for the very first time. This meeting also prompted Raven to fully manifest the bird form of her Soul Self for the very first time due to the level of terror that Trigon was able to instill in her. Trigon informs Raven that she was conceived to be his anchor into the Earth dimension as he needs a physical part of him to act as a bridge to allow permanent manifestation into other dimensions outside of the nether realm.  Repulsed by the sheer level of malice and evil radiating from her father, Raven defies Trigon’s will and vows to oppose his plan to conquer the Earth dimension.  It is later revealed that Trigon has manipulated Raven into taking actions resulting in her coming to Earth so that he can actually use her as his bridge to the Earth dimension since her remaining in Azarath kept him from achieving his Earth dimension conquest goals.  Trigon is able to fully manifest in the Earth dimesion and creates a considerable amount of chaos in his attempt to take control of the Earth. It takes the combined might of Raven and her allies in the Teen Titans as well as the Azarathian mystics to eventually defeat Trigon and seal him in an inter-dimensional prison. Arella also became trapped in the inter-dimensional prison as she assumed the duties of guarding the dimensional prison against any attempts by Trigon to return to Earth or any other dimensional realms he is able to manifest in.  Despite his currently being trapped in the inter-dimensional prison, Trigon secretly plots his escape and return to conquest with the aid of some of his other more devoted offspring.

Trigon being an entity formed of negative emotions and given physical form possesses superhuman physical abilities (strength, speed, agility, senses, durability, regeneration) as well as a variety of other super human/nature abilities including sorcery, emotion manipulation, illusion casting, soul absorption and teleportation.  Trigon is effectively immortal being unaffected by the natural rate of age, disease or death.
