Well, I do love Yusef, and that cat looks pretty devilish. In fact, I'd say you did a devilishly good job if that didn't look a bit like my Indie cat Just a tiny bit, and Indie is a bit of a devil, but far prettier and more interesting than this cat.

Well, dear Julie, when I saw this one, I really did think of Indie. Not as the devil from Kansas, of course, but as a specimen who displays a strong, hard-to-read, character. And it's exactly this character we want - and need - from our animal companions. Be it good or bad. We've to find out, and then we have to adjust or make the best of it. Not always easy, but keeps us rolling.

A hopefully smashing happy new year to you, Julie, full of joy, and may there be also a few wishes finally fulfilled. Sometimes we have to wait for a long time for things to happen. And, oh well, if 2016 won't do it, then maybe 2017 will ... The road goes on forever.

Thank, dear friend. You are spot on about Indie. She took a bit of adjustment, especially in the beginning, but boy, was she worth it! And a smashing New Year to you, C & T, and I can see thinking about 2017, but this endless road deal...hmmm.  Sounds kind of religious to me Either that or something from the Wizard of Oz..

No fear of religion here, or nightmares about the Wiz of Oz. "The Road goes on Forever" is the title of a song by one of the finest musicians Texas can call its own: Joe Ely, The Road goes On Forever":  www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Pgog0…

Alternatively, there would be Emmylou Harris "Leaving Louisiana in Broad Daylight"; where it says "the Highway goes on Forever, that old Highway rolls on Forever". Since you left home at an early age, on your own free will, this song may have a ring with you - or it don't, impossible for me to say. Anyway, here it is, a piece of art, in my opinion: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jL6ZUW…

With Indie, you turned into a lion tamer, probably a career you never meant to follow, but you did. We are not always free to make our best decisions, sometimes the heart comes in between. But then, as with Indie, it's sometimes for the better, and can turn out as a wise decision indeed.

I hope you started the new year well enough, with as few troubles as ever possible (trouble will find its way, always, so no need to invite it in, it will sit at your table before you can even start wonder who it was that was ringing your doorbell ).

Take care, Julie, and keep on going strong, as you always did. And it wouldn't be me if not another song would suddenly come to mind while I write: Nancy Griffith, It's a hard life wherever you go: www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9lUG4… You might truly like this one.

I wish I had seen this comment earlier, but I've gotten a bit buried in work with the warm winter. That seems to have come to an end 2 days ago, but up until then, we were busy as heck. Of course, the problem with owning a small business is that the government screws us faster than the average person in the lovely US of A. Large corps. pay no taxes at all, so for a tiny little company to make up for all the fat at the top, it sucks the blood right out of people. Few ethical people who own small businesses are ever retiring these days. I accept it, it is what it is. But, since you've gotten me thinking in music now, I would say with absolute certainty, that I would not change one moment of the life I've lived for all the money or gold in the world. Reviewing this past year, I can't believe so much has happened. You may remember my worries about my partner last winter, I won't elaborate, but it seems so long ago now. I completed a treatment for Hep C, so I've bought a few more years of life, maybe more. I am hoping things are looking up for both of you- or three of you. You remain firmly implanted in my heart, always. And you've got AWESOME taste in music!!!
