I'm not a photographer. So, I'll spare you the critique, as I'm not qualified for that.
It's nice to look at. It's green. I'd say you did what was asked of you.

Thank you so much for the advice! I fixed it up a bit and entered it!

You've done really well with the colours and focus here. The composition is a little bit weak, though. Have you read about the Rule of Thirds?

Yes I do know about the rule of thirds. For some odd reason I thought I was using it--but you are totally right! If I end up using this one I will possibly edit the top off a bit or something.

yeah, i think that would definitely help in the composition.

Hmm, I like this one for your submission. It really is very green, although those brown stem things under the gooseberries kind of remove the focus from the berries.
It's quite pretty though! Go Jarks~

hmmm, good point. Thanks for the advice! I will probably end up posting up even more options because I only want to enter the best work into the contest.

It's nice, but I think it would be better as more of a macro, focusing in on the berries, rather than having them just... there. If at all possible, a more clear picture would make it just beautiful. It seems like there might be some cloud cover, so it takes on a bluish hue, perhaps wait until you can get it to be more golden-toned? I think making it a brighter piece overall would compliment the highlights in the berries.
I hope you don't hate my critique!

A tripod would be great! I feel that if it's dark, the berries will look wrong... And most cameras have a macro setting, whether or not you have a lens for it. Mine does, and it's a general digital camera, no lenses. Almost everything I've seen has that option, and it's usually much more clear than zooming to the enth degree. Just search the options for a bit, and you'll probably find something like it. Or maybe I don't know what I'm talking about... I dunno, if you like my pics, take my advice, if not, do your own thing

Thanks!! The only thing I'm not extremely crazy about is the glare/brightness on the berries. I am wondering if I had the flash on or if it was from the sun?

I think it was the sun. I'd cropped the top branch just enough to leave a slight bit of it. This would take away the hot spot on it and the distracting leaves above it.
