Description
On a long journey through the winter wilds, your Stryx and rider, or Stryx and their mate, nest down for the night, unaware that they've crossed into wild Windhound territory. In the night, glowing eyes and eerie wooping calls wake your Stryx just in time to see a whole pack of Windhounds ready to attack.
Draw or write about your Stryx fending off their attackers, and defending their rider or mate.
(Full body, colored, BG, Stryx and rider, or 2 Stryx) - For Lit. 1000 word minimum)

Windhound AttackDusk was settling over the forest, bathing the trees in warm gold light and casting deep, heavy purple shadows on the snow below them. Clyde pulled his woolen poncho tighter around him with a small shiver, his broken left arm screaming in protest as it was gently jiggled, and glanced at the horizon, weighing his options. They were still far from home, in cold, unfamiliar territory, and he didn’t want to stop for the night and make their journey even longer, but Pancho’s wings and eyelids were drooping dangerously. If he didn’t rest, Clyde would have a lot more to worry about than a busted arm. Resting his hand on the soft, mottled red feathers of the harpia’s neck, the man leaned close so that he could shout over the wind.
“C’mon, Panch! Let’s pack ‘er in for the night!”

Don't Touch Her! It was late, the sun setting for the night. Jeeves flew in the forest, prompting a younger stryx to follow him, Pip. Jeeves had spent the day helping the younger stryx learn to hunt, as the young stryx was beyond fledged and ready to grow up into a fine dame.
Not only was it late, but it began to rain freezing water. Jeeves chirped at Pip and guided her into a thicket of trees. The sandy stryx sighed, it seemed that he and his trainee would have to spend the night here. The gentleman stryx didn’t want Pip to get soaking wet or freezing cold. No, they would have to stay here. The journey back to the manor wouldn’t be worth it.
Jeeves looked over at Pip, the younger stryx yawning cutely as she puffed her feathers up. Jeeves took a few steps towards her, but didn’t move to put his wing around her, not yet anyways. Instead he took a moment to admire her beauty. She was so darn beautiful….

With the Sun slowly sinking below the horizon, the temperature drops rapidly at this time of the year. Though the winter will soon pass, a thick layer of snow still covers the ground, blanketing the hardy plants, bushes and trees that manage to survive in the wilderness despite the ferocious cold. A flock of sparrows have gathered in an old oak tree and the wind carries their cheerful sounds far across the otherwise silent plain.
