Description Subject = Lucille Ball

Based off a reference photo that was taken in 1942 (link to reference photo is farther below)

Media for this drawing = Adobe Photoshop CS4,

Adobe Illustrator CS4 (only for the fringed shawl thing she's wearing; everything else was made in Photoshop)

Tools / Features used in Adobe Photoshop:

pen tool; gaussian blur; motion blur; paths palette/paths; smudge tool; special effect filters > Eye Candy 4000 > Marble

Paint brushes used:

Most of the brushes I used are the standard ones which ship with Photoshop.

I used Krist's Particle brushes (hosted on Deviant Art) for some of the texture in the background.

I used adonihs's pore brush (hosted on Deviant Art) , on the chin area and on the left side of the face (for the "blush" type color), but it doesn't show up well in the final image.

People forget that Lucy was an actress and a show girl even before she was America's sweetheart. And back then, she was SMOKIN'.

This is a snapshot of a beautiful woman back when her skin matched her soul.

Yep, I agree. I think her goofy personality from the 'I Love Lucy show' overshadowed her beauty, or made people forget about it. That, and she sometimes wore clown noses and Groucho glasses on the show, which hid her looks.

Thanks for leaving a comment!

Thank you so much and thank you for featuring my art at your journal.

I'd like to make a mention of it and give a link to your gallery in a journal on my site, which I might do. (I've not been feeling too well lately and may get off the computer soon and stay off a day or two, though.)

Thank you again for the feature and for the kind words

Thank you, Kothirat.

She was a very pretty lady, but I think we sometimes forget that because she was so goofy on the "I Love Lucy" show.

Oh...Lucille Ball was gorgeous! I just loved the color of her hair and she had such pretty bone structure. Her beauty was terribly overshadowed by her silliness. But that's what we all love her for

Thank you.

I drew Lucille Ball once before, while in high school (that drawing is on my graphic design site, it was a pencil drawing).

I couldn't figure out how to make her wrap/shawl in Photoshop in this image, so I did that part in Illustrator and pasted it into the Photoshop file.
