Description Subject = Parrot

Media = Photoshop

I used a couple of design brushes for the plant in the background (some of the plants were painted with regular Photoshop brushes, though), and I used the Texturizer filter on the branch the bird is sitting upon.

For the feathers, I used the smudge tool on the edges, set to around 40%, using one of the odd-shaped brush tips. I blurred the plants to keep the focus more on the bird in the foreground.

Thank you for the nice comments about the drawing.

I don't mind people faving my art or collecting if they happen to like it, but I do get concerned when I see people taking art by someone and not crediting that person, which has happened on deviantArt. (One of my friends found out someone stole one of her digital paintings hosted on deviantArt and used it on a CD cover in Russia.)

Oh, that's bad!
I know I wouldn't mind if someone downloaded one of my pics to use as a computer screensaver or background or even printed it out to look at, but using someones art to make money and not even crediting them? BAD! BAD! BAD!
What happened with your friend? Was she able to make the CD company stop using it or give her retribution for it?

I'm not sure what happened, I forget what she told me about it. I don't think she was able to do much of anything, if I recall correctly.

Probably not, as anything between countries is inherently difficult. And copyright of online property especially difficult to enforce, at all. Well, I feel for her, in any case. Probably doesn't make her feel too much better about it, though.

Thank you. I actually was not trying for photo-realism; I decided about a year or more ago to give up on that. For years, I tried to strive for it but always fell short.

I used to stress out over getting every last little detail to match whatever photo I was working from, but I don't do that anymore - which makes painting and drawing a lot more fun!

I do try to get my drawings/paintings to match the photo pretty close, but not at 100%.

(I've seen artists who can do that, and good for them, but I don't think I can pull it off. Instead of trying to be something I'm not, I'm trying to make the best of what I already do or have.)

Thanks for much for the kind comments and for requesting this for your group.
