To extract the pain of life
Beneath my retched skin
The truth is hidden
No pain is greater
Than the pain within the soul

Into my skin I cut
To seek out consolation
Perhaps to excavate
The numb and dormant fear
Of being left behind
As all the world moves on

Into my bones I bore
To find a drop of hope
Yet all my deeds are lost
For all the plight is stored
Within the darkest corners
Of the shadows in my heart.
