As a duty forecaster at Moffett Field in 1986 or so I got to go aboard the CNO's VP-3 to brief the pilot while the CNO was busy meeting someone else off-plane. Very nice inside.

Poor old thing, It saddens me that it's getting replaced, but I can't get over how bad ass the P-8A Poseidon is!

This was shot in 1982. The "A" models were pretty much out of patrol service with the AD Navy, some of the reserve units possibly still flow some P-3As.

This pictures shows that the P-3 needs replacing, it looks old and tired even in 1982...

This was a VIP transport conversion of the P-3A. The fleet had moved on to P-3Bs and C's for ASW duties.
