So I broke out Mario Kart for N64 and played through the 150cc cups with Peach. It's been years since I played so I forgot that there are chomps cruising around on the Star Road level. On the very first one I was like, "OOO WHAT"S THAT!1!1" and drove right into it. After kamikaze-ing that one* and figuring out that those approaching black silhouettes are bad, they were totally my best friend the rest of the race. Like, unless I tried to drive into it like that first one, they just stayed away from me. Even better, they made a good effort to eat everyone else. It was really weird. I shouldn't have won that race at all but the chomps hit everyone else so badly that I cruised to 1st. I'm pretty sure Peach has an in with them. Maybe they're like, palace chomps, and she feeds and walks them every morning. That would do it.

I want a pet chain chomp.

*There was ooooone other instance, at that big drop right after the start. One creeped up on me right as I hit the top of the descent and I instinctively hit the bumper, thus jumping into the black oblivion. Totally not the chomp's fault though.
