This is what the new Lion King needed, instead of completely botching the musical number. I would have accepted this! Especially with the direction they took with Shenzi!

This is so awesome. I love both the revamped song and the visuals and the concept. Absolutely brilliant. And the fact that it's not just hyenas in Shenzi's alliance, but also aardwolves and painted wolves makes it much more awesome.

Ooh I'd love to hear! I sang it out loud several times myself trying to get the right feel and have more of a hero-song vibe too. I'd adore listening to someone sing it who knows more of what they're doing.

I love how it's not just a bunch of hyenas that Shenzi leads. There's also some African wild dogs, an aardwolf and a fennec fox. (aww) That's really creative.
I always did love "Be Prepared" as a kid. Then again, villains usually do get all the good songs--loved how you made it Shenzi's song in this version.
Also, as much as I loved "Oh I Just Can't Wait To Be King" as a kid, as an adult it actually is a little bit dark when you realize (although Simba is young and innocent here) Simba is basically singing about how he can't wait for his dad to die so he can take over Pride Rock.

Yeah Shenzi's words would fall really, really flat if she was just advocating one predator group to rule as tyrant to another, just switching species. And she'd be less successful at making lasting change if she didn't get more than just hyenas on her side. Any number of maligned, misunderstood animals who play key roles in the environment deserve to be heard. So we get a kind of hybrid message about learning more about nature rather than making assumptions, and a side bonus of "a rising tide raises all ships"

this whole concept is SO cool! The original movie is my favourite disney classic, but I must admit this adaptation would be far more modern and interesting

I imagine hearing this as a more inspiring, happy song, instead of the sinister version. An evil version of "I Just Can't Wait To Be King" would be fun too, and I feel like "Hakuna Matata" would be a more sorrowful/doubtful song, but with a hint of budding hope in it.

Oh man this makes me think in this AU maybe Mufasa was offed on purpose. Which would still potentially leave me with good-Mufasa in my head who loved his brother a lot and Simba just got greedy and plotted to murder his dad. Which begs the question of what becomes of Sarabi in this universe...

See, now I'm thinking about the sinister version of I Just Can't Wait To Be King, a song that was already technically about a child impatiently awaiting the death of his father.

Well yeah, but if this is a reverse of the story, he'd at least be a brat, and eventually the villain. And even if not, considering he only gets to be king when Mufasa dies, saying he "Can't wait" for that is pretty sinister, intentionally or no.

True. I don't think the original song intended for it to have that meaning though, It was just Simba wanting to have the benefits of being a king yet not realizing the gravity of what that would entail.

I think this would be a much more interesting movie, granted it was written for children, but still lol. Love what you did with the song.
