Description Mom - Acrylic - 16 x 20 - December 2010

My mother passed away in December of 2001. My daughter thought it would be a nice idea if I painted a portrait of my mother for my father as an Xmas gift. She asked me last Sunday... I never thought I would finish it in time, let alone almost a week before the big day! I'm thrilled with the way the painting turned out, and I can't wait to give it to my Dad!!

You can tell that you really loved your mom.  I love the snowy scene and the black and white. Beautiful work.

How sweet! Thoughtful child that you are, and thoughtful daughter have you.
I am sorry about your mom, since we're the same aga, I can't imagine losing mine so early ( you were 36 ? )
What a incredibly lovely & awesome way to remember her!

Yes, my mom was way too young when she died... I was 38 at the time (46 now - ugh - I'm so old!)

It's funny, my dad told me that after he hung the painting, he felt like she was there, watching him all the time... not sure if this is a good thing or not?!! He had taken the photo reference of her, himself, so this I thought was a double-whammy for him, to remember her, as well the moment in time when he took the picture.

Hmmm ... you should just ask him one day. Otherwise it's a "pink elephant" in the room ie a large strange thing in the middle of the room that no one talks about.
And we are not ugh or old, we're just 46!
But real sorry about your mom, there's really nothing like losing your mother.
