So this is for a Undertale neutral route contest, hosted by EyesOfRed2333 and since I love Undertale, especially the neutral routes, I decided, why not.

This is the neutral route where you kill Undyne, and maybe some other monsters? I dunno, but Papyrus and sans go and visit Toriel sometimes, and Papyrus comments that he is going to be a great mom. So here we are. This was pretty fun to do, and I tried a new stlye, with lineart but paint-ish shading, and a painted background. I like how the piece came out, overall. I have a lot of headcannons behind this and they are as follows.

So Papyrus is learning how to be a caretaker of the ruins, following Toriel, and he eventually gets good enough at it the Toriel decides to make him an official caretaker. I headcannon that the surviving monsters created a new deltarune symolizing how they will free themselves without any help from the humans, and this is pretty popular, so by the time Toriel asks Papyrus if he wants her to sew him caretaker robes, he decies to have the new rune on them. Toriel and sans changed a lot, just not so much in physical appearence. Mainly sans not having to deal with resets, and them both being able to finally talk about the emotional baggage they both carry. Also, there are stains, and Toriel and sans' clothes just look older in general, because neither of them ever really bothered to get new clothes, Toriel, out of a holding on to the past, and sans, because he just never really bothered to put in that much effort. At the time of this artwork, Frisk had fallen 2~ years ago, and the monsters had built up many defenses to stop humans, just not inside the ruins. This human is around 10 years old, and confused, and cautious to greet these new monsters, while Papyrus is delighted to see another human, so excited since it's his first since he started caretaking. Toriel is caught comepletely off gaurd, and scared for the human now that almost every monster is even more thirsty for human blood, that if the human ever leaves, there is no chance of them ever coming back. Sans finally let go, came to terms with the fact that there were no more resets, it was finally over, but then he sees this human, with the power to once again make his life hell.

I tried to make sans look older in this, because it's hard to really make him look like an adult, but by comparason, it makes Papyrus look super young. Also I didn't really know what to do with their teeth so they're just blank. Yes I know the scene is not how it is in the game, there's a long hallway, and Flowey's grass patch, and all that, but it was easier to just do this. Also rocks are pretty fun to draw.
