Description www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwM2lm…

I took this video yesterday as five marvelous swallowtail butterflies swarmed my lantana (berry blend) flowers.
I realize it's not the brightest or best quality, but it's still magnificent to me.

I used to have a big butterfly bush in my backyard, but a couple years ago a mole dug under the roots and killed it.
I was devastated, because that plant used to attract one or two butterflies a day.
But this year mom and i got a LOT of lantana and planted them, and as the weeks have gone on i get more and more butterflies every day.
I've been struggling with hip pain, leg pain, and as you all know, depression and yesterday these butterflies made it all worth it.
I would not have changed a thing about yesterday, and this morning i already have another tiger swallowtail feeding.
Yesterday i was just glowing happiness, i even went outside and stood still while they flew and flirted around me :")

If you watch the video (which is only 15 seconds long), the description provides information about these butterflies, how to attract them, and how to care for the flowers they like.

I'm going to post several pictures of these today
You can't see in this picture but there was another swallowtail feeding off to the right on another plant.
It's just impossible for me to explain how happy these guys have made me!
Among other things i've wanted to do, visit a butterfly garden was always one of them.
Now i have one of my own, like a personal piece of paradise.

Enjoy
I know i have been.

WOOWW!! THATS SO COOL!

I am...a big butterfly fan, and also a big caterpillar fan, and Tiger Swallowtails are my favorite I have had the fortune of seeing them wild in my own state, but I've only seen a handful in my life. If I saw five wild ones in the same place at the same time, I would be off my rocker!

It was probably a root vole, not a mole. Moles eat insects and worms but root voles eat the roots and bulbs of plants.

Ahh i see, that would actually explain a lot.
And i have seen voles surface in my yard before.
Thank you for the tip!
Too bad i don't have a bunch of snakes to slither around and eat the little beasts

It does, you can kind of stop them by making an underground fence of sorts to protect the roots inside so the vole can't eat all of them an the tree, bush or flower can survive.
But not having snakes really is kinda sad.

Yeah, i just live in a particular little spot that's too clear for snakes to feel safe.
But maybe it's for the best, because my mom literally hates them, which pisses me off.
She's killed a vole and a mole in my yard and i KNOW she would kill a snake if she saw it...

Why would anyone ever kill a mole? A vole I can sorta understand as they are pretty awful if you have any plants they like, but a MOLE? They don't harm anything, they just make little hills  and they only make a few of them, they stop once their tunnel system is done and they are absolutely adorable!
