Description "Come closer human child.... Come closer, see how inviting the water is? It is warm, and we shall play together. If you are good, you can ride on my back. Come, come.... It will be fun."
A black horse stands in the middle of a river. The young girl, entranced by his beauty and ability to speak, inches closer. Shaking his mane, he urges her on.
"Sara!" Her older brother yells, running towards her. But he is too late. Entranced by the kelpie's spell, the six year old enters the water and is swept away by the current. Her brother stops at the edge of the river, horror struck. A soft whinny catches his attention.
"Come, get on my back, and we shall save her."
"No, NO!" the boy shouts, and runs away as fast as he could. The villagers were right; his father was a fool for farming next to the kelpie's river.

hehehe, I loves the kelpies. ^^ In folklore, they're black horses, river masters, and hate human kind with a passion. They lure people into their rivers, where they drown. Some say they have sharp teeth; it depends on the tale you read.

Anywho, this was drawn in my oceanography class on another notebook divider. I had fun with the mane. ^^
There's a really good book with a kelpie called "the River's Gift" by anne McCaffrey. Go read it. ^^

Lovley. Ah, yes. And they EAT the children and people they capture. They're pretty much the american Kappa, but much less polite.

The mane and tail are beautiful! I like how the tail floats out across the water.. it's so pretty, and such a neat effect.
