Personality

Mrs. Bean can be described as goofy, calm(almost to the point where you could call her lazy) and a little clueless. She is very well mannered when it comes to handling and daily care. Especially on the pasture, she surprises the Caretakers with her eagerness to follow them everywhere. Despite her advanced age, she is easily animated to move in the round pen and stays concentrated for the most part. She does however, tend to get really frustrated when she needs to be loaded or enter a smaller space. Patience is the key here.

History
The chocolate Palomino was brought into a rescue facility in Australia by a team of locals after they had captured the escaped mare in a field near the highway. Given how dangerous the situation was, apart from lacking the effort to do so in the first place, the former owner was not eligible to get the stocky Mare back. Instead, she was added to the list of over-seas adoption services within the rescue facility. Adopted by a small farm in Austria, the mare got shipped out to her new home in 2010. Identifying her Genes and Breed, the new Owner decided to keep her as a pasture mate, not intending to pursue training plans. Ten years later, the owner is now looking for a new forever home for the soon to be 16 year old Mare, stumbling upon the OWC Stables and contacting the Owners, who seemed to have gathered experience with AusWB's recently.

Mrs. Bean is, viewing strictly by appearance, not the typical or desirable Australian Warmblood Mare. She might not be a Gem for a AusWB Breeding Project, but she surely makes up for it with her bright personality and great manners. Though it is not known, staff suspects that some of her ailments (like holding water and itchy skin) come from insufficient care in her younger years. With the respective veterinary Care she seems to be able to live a pain free and high quality life. Apart from the regular groundwork to keep her fit and flexible, she is not trained let alone ridden for competitions. Her slightly swayed back would not allow for a safe riding experience.
Since her arrival at Oakwood Creek Stables she has taken on a role-model position for her pasture-mates Magpie and Bardess when it comes to handling new situations and "scary sounds". This Mare will not be phased the occasional dog or tractor. She does, however, prefer to be indoors when the wind gets too strong. The Vet suspects that this might be because it irritates her coat and skin. Though, to this day, how this calm lady has acquired the deep set scars along her back and front legs is unknown. From placement alone, some sort of impact by a single harness would sound right, although such a discipline would be unusual for her body type and - if done correctly- should not have left the poor equine scarred.

After taking care of multiple foals as a sort of pasture nanny in RUE, Mrs. Bean returned to Oakwood-Creek for her well deserved retirement.

Notes from her stay at RUE:

"Cocoa has been doing a fantastic job here so far! She really was the perfect pick for what we needed. She's great with the foals, as well as the kids, and everyone here loves working with her and seeing her around!" - Elsie-Mae O.
