Description
"Please... help me."

The quiet moan halted Guen's hurried steps, and her gaze turned sharply to the source of the voice. Illuminated by the flickering flames was a pile of scorched, bloody rags and an outstretched, quivering hand. Her pale eyes narrowed ever so slightly at the sight of the hand's owner, an old woman whose face was slashed open. The bottom of her body was crushed beneath a pile of rubble, no doubt from the collapsed building nearby. Hesitantly, Guen looked up towards the end of her path, and the wane, flickering lantern of the ship awaiting her return. The city was descending into chaos - she had no time to get the woman the treatment she needed. She would die soon.

"Kill me."

The next two words caused Guen's eyes to snap back to the shivering woman on the ground, and she frowned deeply. The old woman seemed to smile when she finally caught Guen's gaze, revealing half a row of missing teeth. "You got a weapon there - kill me. End this suffering. The last sweet lad that ran by wasn't decent enough for finish what he started. I thought they would -" Her words halted as she choked on her own blood, which still gushed from the slash down her face. "I thought they would train their soldiers better, those folks from Miras. Would seem they don't even know how to aim."

At the mention of her weapon, Guen's hand clutched at the sword at her side. Naila had only given it to her as a last resort for defense, and she never imagined she would have to use it on this leg of their journey. After all, this area was supposed to have been cleared - after the fires and the commotions of attack, who would be so foolish to stay this close to the harbors? Yet here they were.

"Kill -"

The old woman began again, but before she could repeat her plea, Guen unsheathed Naila's blade with one swift motion and plunged it into the old woman's heart - or at least, where she prayed her heart would be. She had always hated the feeling of steel against flesh, but remained still and gazed into the old woman's eyes until the light within them began to fade. As the woman breathed her last, Guen leaned back and sighed. From the sounds of it, the soldiers from Miras are not honoring their end of the agreement to leave civilians unharmed. Though, who was she to judge, as the explosions she had planned were what probably sealed this woman's fate in the first place?

"Foolish kings and their foolish wars." Wasting no more time, she pulled out the sword and wiped it against the old woman's rags before continuing on, now jogging towards the harbor to make up for lost time.

JUST A SMALL THING for Guen because I rly wanted to do a long comic but 100% failed because poor planning (and new addition to FF). Just having Guen run back to the city to grab some of her things after the explosions and... yeah. Very displeased with what has happened but THE SHIP HAS SAILED (or is about to) and she has made up her mind to go back home to Amedra so... what happens now is out of her hands.

Legendary Quest: Ace of Rings, Upright (Start of meaningful interest or involvement)
After discovering the Patriot in Linhythe, Guen does not turn her in but strikes a deal with Miras through her instead. She restores her family's title in exchange for swaying the loyalty of many Corsairs. Quietly, she arranges for many of the ships that do not come to their side to be destroyed. Much of the city is set aflame during the chaos of their mutiny, but Guen accepts the destruction of much of Linhythe (as well as the death of many of its citizens) as an acceptable price for what she gains in return - a whole new life in her home city Amedra as a noblewoman.
