She's a little less selfish and a little kinder than Balto.

Ellis is basically the same as his female counterpart in that he is vain, emotionally explosive, and wears his heart on his sleeve. The most striking difference is that he has less ambition than Elise- in this case, he has full confidence that his older brother (male!Vienna) is more than capable of taking care of their estate, and so doesn't bother with trying to take the reigns. Instead, he's an avid patron of the arts and theatre, and likes to spend his time rubbing elbows with the creme de la creme of high society. He avidly avoids all and any suggestion of his making a career for himself in the military because he is obviously above such a lowly station and bristles at the idea of wearing an unfashionable uniform.

As for this interaction, it would be impossible with Balthazar and Elise because Elise thinks Balthazar is a trashy guy who has no spine and would turn her nose up at him before taking his arm. Ellis, on the other hand, respects Beatrice as a woman who is older than him. Plus, he won't say no to a smiling lady, even if she's a few stations below him and should probably start looking to get married before her expiration date passes.
