Description
This has been another ongoing and almost-given-up-on project, mainly because I can't decide on how to finish it. That's where my precious, precious commenters come in. I'd greatly appreciate feedback on this one, mainly concerning coloring ideas. Feel free to give me any advice you want. These are the options I'm currently considering:1) Leave it pretty much as is, with everything but Samus as a sketch, but redo the text and Title
2) Halfass cel-shade the non-Samus characters, leaving Samus fully rendered for emphasis
3) Halfass painting-style CG the non-Samus characters, leaving Samus fully rendered for emphasis
4) Full-ass cel-shade everything
5) Full-ass cel-shade everything but de-emphasize all non-Samus characters by means of dimmer or darker colors, etc.
Those are pretty much my ideas right now. I'm leaning toward #2 and #5.
Any other critique is welcome.
All sketches were done separately on several sheets of paper, then composed in Photoshop 7.

I love your picture!
I hate it when people make Samus look like some stupid flirty ditzy anime loser. But in your picture, she looks awesome. She looks like the same Samus that cause Metroids to go extinct, and explode every planet she lands on.

I bought the uncolored version at a convention. Is this your art, or are you coloring someone else's?
As far as the rendering goes, I say fully detail the whole thing. Samus should stand out pretty good just because of the color pallettes of the other things in the shot. In fact each peice should stand out pretty well. I really hope to see this finished one day! I love the style, and the execution on this.

I'd say 2 with a bit of a blur maybe, and if it turns out to your liking (or you get sick of working on it) leave it; if it still feels incomplete, go full enchilada with 5. Looks good so far!

I know this may be intimidating to go back to now, but I think this could easily make for the best Metroid fanart if you were to finish coloring it.

i need help finding a samus aran costume!!!!!!! some ppl say there at circle center (I live in indiana, and circle center is in indianapolis indiana) i just relly want one i tried ebay, and some costume stores , but i cant find one!!! if anyone finds on on ebay, email me the link @ samusaran@wild4music.com (and im ten, so it has to be a childrens size, my clothes size is 7/8)

I'd like to vote for option 5. The composition is great, and Samus appears to best advantage highlighted somehow, but with the background all sketch-lines as it is, things bleed together in places. I think the right color-work could make the skill and beauty already evident in your linework more apparent.

this is a really great picture.. the composition is awesome, the lineart is flawless, and you've included everything important. I think you should color Ridley and Samus in her armor, and just cel-shade the rest of them, maybe lightly coloring the metroid to give a bit of background. Its up to you, but this pic would be even more epic if you finished it

Imo, I'd stick to your option 2. But you should also keep this version up of your creation, for I find this the best.
You have done well with the terrain and the small but significant details of all of the characters and/or creatures.

I do enjoy the look you gave for Samus. Though she shows more skin in this than in her Zero Suit Form, I have to admit I find this one more realisitic, especially since you kept some of her armor on her. Probably all you have to do is color it, but that's your choice.
