They take death pretty damn seriously up there , don't they? ;D There's a weird mix of styles on this tomb - a bit of putti and more than a touch of leering gargoyles..

Different attitude to death then I suspect..it was"in your face" all the time
as opposed to the situation now where its all hidden and hospitalised and clinical.
Yes it is.The churchyard is surrounded by old style tenement houses
with their windows looking out onto the yard....and a view
of the castle too.

keeping up with the Mc Joneses in the Afterlife.

Its magnificent ive seen and photographed (on film years ago) similar gravestones at Eyam Derbyshire (A plague village) quite a few with skull n crosbones ..ill pop down ther when the weathers nicer and photograph them
