Burns:
~All his burns were given to him by Griffon on accident.
~His hands are covered with burn scars as he would take a toddler Griffon's hands and blow out the fire, because the child did not know how to put them out himself. Hands Aflame    Raphael crept into the nursery. It was just around nine in the morning. Not too early as to make Griffon grumpy but late enough that the young lord would have woken up on his own. Pulling a small stool from its comfortable corner, Raphael began dragging it to the edge of the crib. Little did he know that Lady Rakell had had it made especially for him, telling the nursery maids to always keep it nearby. She knew just how often the young boy snuck into the room to play with the baby, yet spoke nothing of the midnight intrusions. No harm was done, and Griffon seemed to always be happier with the little blond around.
    Raphael peered over the side of the crib. Griffon blinked up at him, immediately recognizing his friend. “Ra Ra Ra!” he babbled happily, flopping onto his stomach and using the plats of the crib to pull himself upwards. He touched his nose to Raphael’s.
    “Good morning, Griff!”
~A collection of hand prints of varying sizes are on his arms and legs. When Griffon was young and scared, he would grab onto Raphael for protection. At that time, he did not have control over his fire and left hand prints seared into Raphael's skin. As he grew older, the hand prints grew larger until Griffon learned control.
~The largest burn is the one that covers his back and shoulder. This was given when he had to carry Griffon to safety after Griffon was unconscious, wounded, and literally burning with fever. He slung Griffon over his shoulder and ran away with him. Everywhere Griffon was pressed against him, there is the burn. The story of this can be found here: Just Another Scar I leaned against the rock and pulled my wet hair over my shoulder. I threaded my fingers gently through the thick mass as I braided it, working out the tangles. After I was finished, I would put my shirt back on. Right now, my thick hair would soak right through it. I could see Griffon a couple yards away, starting the night’s fire. He was carefully setting up the kindling, snapping his fingers to make a few test sparks. My fingers hit a snare and I carefully began pulling it apart. Content with what Griffon was doing, I glanced around. Now, where was-Oof!
A small body slammed against my back and thin arms wrapped around my neck. Tiny hands clasped together at the base of my throat. “Hello, my dove. Sneaking up on me again, are you?” Marlee squeezed my neck in response. I deftly finished my braid and swung it back over my shoulder, being careful not to hit the little girl.

~Raphael is very self conscious about his burn scars and that is why he always covers them up with clothing.
~His burns do not hinder his mobility, thanks to his slightly higher healing speed as a halfling. His shoulder burn does get stiff from time to time, but after he does some stretches and applies some salve, it is usually fine.

~Raphael has been best friends with Griffon since Griffon was born (there is a 3 year difference between the two). They are inseparable. He teases Griffon mercilessly but is always the first one to come to Griffon's aide or to comfort him. They have been through hell and back together.
~When Griffon's parents died suddenly in a fire, Raphael (15) took Griffon (12) and Marlee (newborn) and fled with them. They eventually ended up with Brayford and Annetta and have been with them ever since.
~Raphael has been trained since a child to be able to protect and kill. His rule is "I do not start fights but I sure as hell finish them." And he will finish them and win. When provoked, he has a dangerous amount of blood lust and no mercy. If you hurt his family, he will hurt you. Although he prefers his swords, he is trained in and exceeds in most weapons.
~Whenever he fights, he has this sad smile that is terrifying to his opponents.
~Raphael is almost invincible. The only known person who is able to defeat him in battle is Griffon, and even that is rare.
~As a halfling, Raphael has dealt with a lot of prejudice and hatred due to what he is. He is forever fighting to prove to strangers that he is not some dog.
~Raphael's hair is so long because the only thing he remembers about his mother is that her hair trailed along the floor behind her as she walked. His hair is the only connection he has to her. It is his pride and joy and most people are not allowed to touch it. He has never cut it and never plans to.
~Despite having so much hair on his head, Raphael is unable to grow facial hair, or any other hair on his body, actually.

He hit the oaf square in the throat. The large man staggered back, clutching his neck and gagging. Raphael let himself be momentarily disappointed that he had not crushed the windpipe, as was his intention. His lapse in attention was a mistake as the castle guard caught him unawares by pulling him into the air. Unable to free his arms, Raphael kicked at the man’s chest but Kipler was like a brick wall, a solid mass of muscle.
    Kipler slapped Raphael across the face so hard that the young boy swung sideways in his grasp. “Tsk, tsk, little whelp,” Kipler clucked his tongue while shaking his head He suffers from panic attacks and nightmares periodically because of this.

What is a halfling?

General Information:
~Halfling: 50% human, 50% Sylvian
~Halflings are treated like dogs, lesser beings. Scum of the earth. To be a halfling is to be taboo and spit upon.
~A human who has sexual relations with a Sylvian is looked down upon and the resulting children, or halflings, are “monstrosities”

Ears:
~The most notable physical quality of a halfling is their ears, which are pointed. They reach their full length as a halfling nears the end of ~puberty, around 17 years old.
Babies’ ears are rounded with only a slight point at the tip. Their nature can be hidden for a while until the child’s ears become too long to cover through hats or hair.
The length varies, male halflings generally have longer ears than females.
Ears are very sensitive, changes from halfling to halfling. For some, it is quite painful, to others, the ears are an erogenous zone.
Most halflings cover their ears.

Eyes:
~Most halflings have varying degrees of burgundy or purple eyes.
~This is because Sylvians have red eyes. So the halfling child has a mix of the parents' eyes. Example: Raphael's human father had brown eyes, his Sylvian mother had red, Raphael has burgundy eyes.

Hair:
~Most halflings have very light colored hair such as white or light blonde
~This is because Sylvians have white hair

Healing:
~Can heal .5x faster than a regular human. Example: takes human 2 weeks to recover from injury, halfling takes 1.5 weeks. This is not a huge amount but it adds up
~Slightly higher pain tolerance than full humans

Body/build
~ Halflings are generally very tall and graceful. Their height does not make them bulky or awkward in the slightest
~They have pale skin, as Sylvian's flesh tone is almost white. If the human parent has dark skin, then the resulting halfling will have very light brown/tan skin

Senses
~Eyesight and hearing is better than a human. Especially the hearing.
~ Faster reflexes
~Higher pain tolerance, changes from each individual.

Reproduction

~Halflings are infertile, they cannot have children of their own
~Example: a donkey and horse make a mule, an animal that cannot reproduce.
~Uncommon for a halfling to reach the age of having a family anyway (many are killed or made slaves before they reach adulthood)
