Dear Diary, My sister came home from college…

I have an older sister. She’s always been one step ahead of me. She’s always been more of a boy magnet then me. She’s always been little miss perfect. She’s always been same old Nicole. My self esteem has already lowered significantly after my date a few weeks ago, so I’m sure Nicole will just add fuel to the fire… My parents greeted her at the door, I had this sudden feeling to fetch her bags and take them upstairs for some reason. “So how has our girl been doing at College!” my mom said. “Arizona State has just been so welcoming and I’ve really felt like I’ve fit in so quickly” Nicole smirked.

After a long three hours of catching up we decided to go out to dinner, I of course wore the biggest hat I could find to somewhat hide my ears. “Oh Kira, you don’t look so good that rash around your jawline is really noticeable” Nicole explains. I told her it was just the summer heat wave and I’d be fine, which lead us to the dreaded conversation of my ears: “I bet it’s been hard for you lil sis” she laughed, Just then we heard an Applebee’s employee telling off a customer. They lost control of their dog and she rubbed up against my legs, then the puppy jumped onto the table and onto my chest, I couldn’t help but lean in for a kiss as this feeling ran over me. I looked over and Nicole was laughing with her phone out “Well that pretty much tells me how you’re doing Kira!”.

When we got home I was tired and sweaty, the air conditioning must’ve been cranked up. Dad had recently built a gym in the third bedroom so Nicole was to sleep in my room, while I slept on the couch for the next six nights. Turns out my big sister brought home a boy after only one day of coming home, I could hear them all night pounding away on my own bed! The next morning I woke up with drool all over my night gown, and saw the guy quietly sneaking out of the house. Nicole suggested me and her take a day together to the Salon, as she felt bad for taking plenty of shots at me last night.

“You’d look so much for attractive without those ugly crinkled things on your head” she sputtered. “The Doctors have tried everything and it would cost us hundreds of thousands to get the surgery done” I replied. “Well maybe we could try covering them up, not with a hat though, with more hair”. Nicole bought me some pricy hair extensions that looked stunning, it covered up my ears completely until I heard a loud styling machine go off and the ears sprouted up. I started crying as the extensions fell off quickly. There was no way to get rid of those god damn ears.

On Nicole’s last day of visiting us, she took me out to a Bar, a lot of girl talk came from the night which led to some drinks, Nicole was cool enough to give me one or maybe a couple more. Now apparently my sister told me I was drunk when I played truth or dare with her, which gave her the chance to humiliate me one last time, this time walking me on a child harness outside for a good hour or so. She got a video of me going to the bathroom on a fire hydrant and sent it to all her friends. This nightmare keeps getting worse and I don’t know how on earth I’m gonna survive Grade 11.
