Description As pleases as I am with how this photo came out, this is definitely one of those pendants that's SO much more effective if you can pick it up and look at it from all sides. In addition to making the usual ring of maple (drilled out a hole with a 1-inch drill bit, then used a bandsaw to cut out the circle), I used my dremel to carve away enough of the back inside of the ring so I could fit an entire watch movement plate inside. Then I glued a circle of walnut against the back, pinning the watch movement in place, and sanded the whole thing smooth before adding the top and the ebony pin.

One thing I love about these pendants is that when I have them for sale at a craft booth I've found they have exactly the same amount of appeal to men that they do to women. I guess when you make something hefty and fantastical enough it crosses the line from jewelry to talisman.

Man, that LOOKS like it'd be satisfyingly heavy when you pick it up, I'll bet you have people asking to pick your jewelry up for a closer look all the time.
