Description Okay-- first off please read this description!

This is a very different kind of work for me. I used many different mediums to achieve the end result and confused even myself in the process I started out with a photo of myself and printed it out. I painted over the photo (watercolors) and then scanned it again. I painted on it again using a paint program and then scanned some other pictures of mine and did the same to those (water color pencils). I printed out stock work by `dholms and watered them and then scanned them. And I scanned some dirt, torn paper, and bugs, and hair -bits of this bits of that. I took all of these things and compiled them in PS and added some brush accents and a frame.

I couldnt decide whether I liked it or not. One minute I hated it and the next minute I couldnt stop staring at it. Definitely a love-hate relationship with this one heh. I tried a lot of new things here that I had never done before- highly inspired by my dear friend `dholms s incredible painting skills. It may not stay up-- I will have to see

It feels good to try new things. I am working on a new photowork that will most likely please many of my horror fans-- going back to my old scary stuffs with the next one But this was a leap-- one that I am glad I took and I hope you are too!

Thanks for listening to me ramble and now I will credit where credit is due~

So cool to know how an image like this is created ! Digital/computers offer almost a limitless way to apply things and combing them - and it's great to see people actually experiment to achieve a result. To me, this looks like a painting, and an anologue painting, that is - most of the time things like this just have that digital "look" to them, hard to describe, but you see it alot. This image is very successful in that nowhere in it can one recognize the medium in which was created. I only assume computer because that's what I'm viewing it on, but it really looks like a painting or hand combined mixed media image (which in a large amount, it is . Anyways, very effective and emotive - you did a wonderful job! Thanks for sharing this, it's inspiring. !!

this is beautiful.
from the embedded dragonFly
flowing into the wisps of her tangled hair...
to the colors, romanticly pulling you in and daring
you to stare.

i love it.

I like the multi-layered depths of this artwork.
The final feeling and visual impact keeps the memory of the process.
Which is interesting, involving, challenging.

I guess this is something you can investigate more...sometimes.

I found myself very interested in these kind of processes involving chaos, randomness and layering.
The results are always unpredictable and mysterious....and the "creator" shivers with the same wonder of the "viewer".

Lesa,

how deserving.

After a way too long hiatus, I visited your little treehouse again and I find it torn apart by the hurricanes ravaging your mind.

Beautiful imagery, the hair in the wind is evoking and fear provoking. I want to protect that child faced woman standing there amidst that destruction.

Yet, I know you've made it through.

All you need to do is wait for the sunny tomorrow, will you let us see that as well?

Ahhh my prince of the sands Truly a pleasure to hear from you, your words always warm my heart. It was a wild ride of emotions with this one-- seems like the one I am one lately and quite ready to get off of too In the end it worked out okay......tho the emotions are still hurricane like at least they culminated in something worthy. But I never give up cause I know that tomorrow could be that sunny day! Thank you so much for your support I hope life is treating you well and that you stick around

I really love the description of how you created this...I think you absolutely have to throw aside thoughts of "you cant do that" with art, in order to progress.....there are so many wonderful methods and mediums to combine and try...possibilities become endless.
As for the image, I really love the color and lighting , and the composition really stands out. It makes me a bit uncomforatable on an emotional level...perhaps a little sorrowful, but I take that as a bonus in art.

MemoriesOfRain [2004-08-03 04:45:56 +0000 UTC]

Your face was the very last part of it that I saw.... at first my eyes didn't register a face inside it even when I looked. It reminded me of cave paintings and blood vessels, underwater currents and crushed dry leaves... I stared at it for what seemed like forever, finding new patterns and pictures in it... then I leaned back in my chair slightly and all the sudden there was the face staring at me.

Quite an experience. This is without a doubt the most memorable self-portrait I have ever seen.
