I feel... so empty. Thanks for viewing. Comments and favorites are GREATLY appreciated, and I thank you all for actually letting me KNOW if you like it. But, nonetheless, enjoy.

Every drawing varies, I would just call this a nice looking doodle. GJ though

Yeah, it's really just a test of how I draw the two of them. But, thanks!

Ellen-Souler In reply to Fangscream [2011-02-03 22:58:10 +0000 UTC]

Considering it's a test, it was not a bad start to get a very good concept of how your going to draw these two characters in perspective

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Fangscream In reply to Ellen-Souler [2011-02-04 01:34:25 +0000 UTC]

Absolutely. That's definitely one of the main things I focused on, perspective
between the two. Including size, head shapes, arm designs/structure, etc...

Ellen-Souler In reply to Fangscream [2011-02-04 02:26:01 +0000 UTC]

I can give you some character development tips. It helps but try to imagine an action-line in your drawings, unless you already now how to do that,(it's easy). Basically draw a line that suggests where your going to put the characters main emotional movements and the dynamism of the direction the character will direct all of its energy.

Another tip
And as an artist, try making a character lineup or a character turn around to get a full 360 view of Mordecai

Fangscream In reply to Ellen-Souler [2011-02-04 02:42:59 +0000 UTC]

Oh man, techincal stuff. It'll definitely make me better with drawing
characters more easily and better, but it isn't the most exciting type of
art. Although, I'd be willing to draw anything that really interests me now.
So I may have a go at that sometime soon.

But yeah, I have seen and thought of stuff like that before, but back then, I
wasn't drawing as much as I am now.

Ellen-Souler In reply to Fangscream [2011-02-04 02:57:58 +0000 UTC]

Yep it is but it will help so much. Anytime you need tips mostly character dev obviously, then just ask since you have a ton of potential to become a cartoonist. And besides the character lineup, when you draw the action line one, draw him doing one swift motion drawing by drawing

Fangscream In reply to Ellen-Souler [2011-02-04 03:00:29 +0000 UTC]

Oooo, sounds good! Yeah, that would definitely help!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ellen-Souler In reply to Fangscream [2011-02-04 03:04:49 +0000 UTC]

Np problem, perhaps draw him with the sword again with the action line one since you did well on that drawing and it will feel familiar to do it again. It might be icky but leave the action line in him lighter. And there is only one action line in the character.

Sorry to sound like a teacher but I just want to see your drwawings become more epic day by day

Fangscream In reply to Ellen-Souler [2011-02-06 01:26:07 +0000 UTC]

Well thank you! I also enjoy seeing me move on and become better everyday. :3

It's the supporting people that keep me drawing.

And I'm a little confused on what you mean by the action line. Would you explain in more detail, if you don't mind?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ellen-Souler In reply to Fangscream [2011-02-06 04:12:42 +0000 UTC]

sure thing bud, The action line is used to show the energy in the character as they move. You draw the line very lightly in the body starting from the base to the head. Let's say Mordecai was swing a sword, well the action line would flow through his body indicating his energy release. Imagine the action line as the characters spine, it helps but mostly the line is just drawn to show the characters momentum

Agh, I kind of have an idea of what you're talking about... let me try to see if I've got it. Otherwise, would you mind showing me an example or something, because I'm totally lost. Man!!!

Okay, so an action line is-- oh. I just looked it up before typing. I get it now!

I saw this: [link]

Ellen-Souler In reply to Fangscream [2011-02-06 05:35:46 +0000 UTC]

exactly what an action line is, it is important to draw these sometimes to shed light on what is to be.

I just suggested it to you so I can help you have more art concept and improve your skills. (like they need improvment)

Fangscream In reply to Ellen-Souler [2011-02-06 05:47:48 +0000 UTC]

Oh, you! *blushblush*

But naw, I'm pretty critical towards myself, so I'm always going to be trying to improve, even if hundreds of people come to my best work yet and all give semi-constructive comments saying that me and my work are awesome. Art's one of those things that you can't really MASTER, because you can always become a better artist in some way.

Thanks again for trying to help me out.

Ellen-Souler In reply to Fangscream [2011-02-06 06:00:33 +0000 UTC]

np, I like to teach.

And yes art is an un-tamable beast that kicks as you try to lasso it, it may be the most aggressive creature to conquer and when it is tamed your feel as though you have never really won, and see that you must teach the beast anew everyday.

Yet art is the most beautiful oasis in the middle of the desert

You approach it's shimmering aquatic magnificence and swill the substance in your palm and see the universe and yet see nothing. But as your swallow the holy water your body shivers as the impurities are washed away from your eyes and you see the face of God...

That...that my friend is art....lmao

Fangscream In reply to Ellen-Souler [2011-02-06 06:07:53 +0000 UTC]

Aweeessoooommeeeee!

So true, man. All of it. Art can be the most beautiful you'll ever see. But sometimes, people will make art that's absolutely disgusting, or just plain not good. But, to appreciate art, you've got to look past the lines and colors. But then again, the lines and colors help. :3

Great poem you made!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ellen-Souler In reply to Fangscream [2011-02-06 06:18:44 +0000 UTC]

lol thx alot man! Let's just say I passed all 3 of my creative writing classes and english classes with A's.

Yet I fail at spelling....and you did well to analyze the poem. It has other meanings as well but the main point is you can master art but never be its master. And art is as close as the most beautiful thing you will see and has infinite possibilities yet, you will never really capture its essence in it's purist form.

But yeah, again, thanks for the inspiring, graceful words. :3

cute Mordecai, but maybe you want to work on Margaret's neckline a bit...

Fangscream In reply to CannedTins [2011-02-03 22:55:55 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, this is really just to test how well I can draw either one of them. Mordecai: I think I've got pretty well. Margaret, not so much.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CannedTins In reply to Fangscream [2011-02-03 22:58:57 +0000 UTC]

mm...i usually never draw Margaret...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Fangscream In reply to CannedTins [2011-02-03 23:08:13 +0000 UTC]

Whatcha tryin' to say? >:c

lol

No but really, are you trying to state that it's an obvious fact? I feel dumb right now for not noticing that about her neck! D:

Hopefully nobody else notices LOL. But yeah, I'm actually going to try some more sketching of Margaret, using some pictures to get more of an idea of what she looks like, then move on to just drawing her with my braaaaain. Just like with Mordecai.

But then again, I still thank you for pointing that out about Margaret's neck. I'll definitely have to take note of that whenever I draw her. I basically draw her just like I drew Mordecai, but now I know that they're definitely not the same. :3

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CannedTins In reply to Fangscream [2011-02-03 23:17:19 +0000 UTC]

i usually draw a neck for Mordecai, something you'd see on a skinny 20 year old dude, ofcourse.
like i said, i almost NEVER draw Margaret, but when i do,it comes out looking....odd.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Fangscream In reply to CannedTins [2011-02-04 01:33:17 +0000 UTC]

lol, okay. But a neck for Mordecai might not really be my style. BUT, I may try that eventually and see how it works out. I finally drew Margaret the right way finally. >_> It's up.

But I see what you mean, a skinny 23 year old would probably show his neck LOL but his neck never really shows in the show... meh idk. Whatever appeals to me will end up being what I draw in the end.

But thanks for sharing your views, makes me think a bit more.

um, if you see towards the end of Peeps,at that epic staring contest, Mordecai's head angle goes foward, and his body is leaning foward, and you can see somewhat of a neck-ish thing on him...
