I mean, I get it from a technical standpoint from this link I found.
The reason for EclipseI've just spoken to someone and the important reason that the Deviantart Classic has to go and here's what he or she told me.
"Aside from that, if they were to throw away 3 or possibly more years of development and quite a lot of money sank into it, and cancel Eclipse to keep the old version, we would not get any new features, as it has been for years. A simple example of why Eclipse's layout is AWFULThis is what a deviation looks like on the classic site:
It's simple and effective. The preview image is large enough to see without clicking fullview, and the tags are neatly grouped under the title, where they can do their job without being distracting.
Now compare the same page on Eclipse:
The preview image is now too small to see without clicking, and the page is DOMINATED by a wall of tags that massively distract from the actual artwork. There's a vast sea of wasted space. The page looks simultaneously cluttered and empty - the crowning achievement of poor design.
Who the hell thinks this is an improvement?? The artwork should be the FOCUS of the page, not the friggin tags! What the fuck!
I don't think I have ever hated a website update as viscerally as I hate this. It's HIDEOUS. I can't believe this garbage is being forced on us tomorrow.
