First dress i ever made... kind of followed a pattern, kinda didnt. used ribbon for the side and care bear fabric for accent.

The fitting took a few seams to get right XD
there is soft black lacy fabric, tulle, and the main component is a black cotton knit which is very soft and stretchy [imo ideal for a DIY dress. =]

Very True. I do most of my stuff in strech-knit, because I have such a hard time with zippers...
