Are these copied from Elvgren? Or are they just used as direct reference?

Depends on how you define copy and reference. In the way I define it, I did both: I used the rough outlines of the existing Elvgren work to save some time and painted from there from scratch by having an eye on the Elvgren piece to keep the painterly look.
