His name is "Chewie", short for Chewbacca.

I had a chow chow that looked just like this one and her name was "Chowie" LOL But on her papers I had "Chyna Lynn". They are beautiful dogs but very tempermental and a one person dog. Nice pic

No, just that they are tempermental.....they are very obedient to their one owner and will accept others......but if the others do something that the chow doesn't like, watch out. But the master could do that same thing and the chow wouldn't have a problem with it.

Golden retrivers (the kind of dog I have) are verrry laid back and accepting of most anyone that their masters like. My big dog lets other people's kids crawl on his back and pull at his ears and tail. But watch out if I'm the one who's on edge. They seem to pick up on their owners' feelings, and then they can be quite fierce beasties. Well, they aren't really voilent so much as bold and protective.

Now that's a good dog that tolerates children crawling over them..........but the real test is that can you take food from his mouth without him growling or biting your hand off? To me that's the ultimate test! And Golden Retrivers are excellent dogs and so beautiful too

Oh yes! I can reach right into his mouth and take food out. He knows when he's not supposed to have something. Of course, I don't need to do it too often. He knows what to do when I say, "Drop it!" He's a great dog! I'm very proud of him... He's only two years old, but he has a wise soul.

Maybe you could find a local Chow rescue in your area? I've been hearing about lots of pure bred puppies and kittens being adopted since Katrina.
