Description Hoo boy, lots to say about this one:

This is an exploration of the "Super Mandelbrot" coloring algorithm in lkm3.ucl. It's kind of a weird alg to work with because it basically ignores whatever is on the formula tab, but I highly recommend you check it out because it is very beautiful and unique.

omfg I did so much detailed technical work on this thing. Of course I try to put a good amount of effort into every image but this one took WAY more than average, mostly in the form of painstakingly using masks to isolate pieces of the image so I could get the colors I wanted without screwing up the colors in the rest of the piece.

Artistically, I tried to not fall back on my usual habits... I'm not sure if it really worked but I do think at least the approach to gradient control is a bit atypical for me, in that I usually don't like to allow visible color banding...

Part of my wants to release the params for this but oh my gosh you guys they are so huge. By the end of making the piece UF was hanging almost every time I made an edit, and my computer is BEASTLY. I guess anybody who wants to look at the params can request them, just be warned that working with them might take a lot of patience.

This is a great piece of fractal artwork! I even love the grain in it (which I usually don't). Fits nicely.

oh, boy you right - very slow formula  Have played with it before & stupidly added newtons to it for texturing
way way ago .... this image made me inspired again to reopen the params and have it another go - still cooking (first one is rendering now, some 5hrs)
You know I can extract the base layer and post it, so peeps can play with it...

Great take on mandelbrot not as obscene as you think

Well worth all the effort, it's a beauty!
Agree on the distracting blue stripe, but hey, very probably the slight incongruity fits with...

AM i doing something wrong or this algorithm takes too much time to compile ?
Btw, the work is exceptional!!

It is just a slow algorithm but worth it imo

I like the flow of this one. Only one part distracts my eyes from the the whole image. That is the blue stripe in the upperish left just off the corner.

Interestingly, you are the second person to say this, but I am going to stubbornly insist that the slight incongruity fits with the aim of the piece

Striking. I have to ask if a fractal generator figures into the medium?

Oops..nevermind. just found the info page. New to DA.

I think your hard work payed off well. It's a fun and lively mix of colours, contrast and hardness. There's a lot of subtle details to explore and look at, and I like that in art such as this.
