This is one of three reasons for the closing of werewolf mask commissions for a while: a new silicone costume project for my portfolio.This is the reason why I'm heading off to Dublin again 19th April for another special effects course; I'll be learning how to make movie-quality silicone prosthetics and masks from Steve Johnson once again and from the course's new guest Tate Steinsiek from the SyFy TV show 'Face Off'.
And HOPEFULLY this time I'll get this project in the class completed, last time due to a supplier issue with the tutors nobody in class finished their projects...
The gloves however are just a fun side-project to go with the mask designs, we'll only be making masks and face-prosthetics in Dublin so the gloves I'll be doing in my own time. I decided to go with a more 'feral' type of hand for these gloves, they'll be smaller and easier to maneuver than my latex werewolf gloves as they'll be designed specifically for holding fake weapons for LARP events. But again this will depend on how well my silicone mask project turns out in Class. So Fingers crossed!
As for the Hyena head...well I can't decide between the pointed ears of an Asian striped hyena, or the rounded ears of an African spotted hyena. Which ears do you all think look the best on this mask design? I would very much appreciate comments on this please. ^^

Yep, I can do that now with the werewolf masks but it'll mean the werewolf masks will have to be 'nerfed' for safety e.g. have completely open-eyes (meaning no glass eyes or black mesh) for ultimate vision and rubber roses and rubber teeth to avoid chipping and make the mask even lighter to wear.
I also offer latex facial prosthetics, I just never get round to making new ones to showcase since commissioners don't tend to ask about them and I have other projects to work on. But you can see them in action in my werewolf video and spoof movie poster.

Yeah, I know what you mean. This kind of "nerfing" the eyes is standard around here for Larp masks.
Though the idea with rubber noses and teeth is somewhat new. Most noses around here are either leather or silicone and the teeth are usually hard.
Thanks! I'll look into that! Although I have to admit, that I don't have a real market for prosthetics here.
Most people I know require Larp safe fursuit heads for characters of beast races...and let's just say there aren't many good sources for that. XD

It depends on which LARP group it is I suppose, the one my friend does in Derbyshire is very strict.

We're a bit less strict here. Mostly the rule is "It has to be soft, if you're using it for attacking and it should be, if it could break.".
Since I don't use my teeth offensively...
I probably will not, but I regualarly get requests, that I could direct your way.

Of you could that would be helpful for both of us yes, but after I've reopened for werewolf mask requests first lol. Need to get these new masks completed or else I'll never be able to expand on the commissions' list.

I prefer the shape of the left one, but I'm not a fan of the fur in the ears. So I would go with the ears of the right one.

Yeah I wasn't keen on the inner ear fur either after drawing it, but it's the shape I'm undecided on not the hair around it.

i think the one ears that are fury is good cause it goes with the rest of the head

Well the spotted Hyena is shaped like a semi-circle in real life, also I've changed my mind about the back of the shoulders having hair that long, you'll see what I mean when I finish the full body ref. But so far people on facebook like the pointy ears too.

The full body is just for fun though, not guaranteeing a full costume unless the mask is completed in class.
