I never knew you had a B+W ND X1000
Is it mainly used for black and white shots?

By the way, beautiful feeling to this photo, the water looks amazing

FatalBite In reply to DrewHopper [2008-07-30 08:00:48 +0000 UTC]

Well, now you do
I mainly use it for black and white photography but you can use it for color photos too. In really long exposures, it gives you some reddish color cast though.
Thank you. I'm glad you like it

Would you suggest an ND8 over it though?

FatalBite In reply to DrewHopper [2008-07-30 11:45:24 +0000 UTC]

Depends on the situation.
In this photo, yes, I would have used a ND8 more likely than 10 stop filter.

B+W make a 10 stop filter and now I'm not sure if I should go with the Hoya ND8 or that one?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FatalBite In reply to DrewHopper [2008-07-30 15:25:18 +0000 UTC]

Go with the ND8 at first and when you want to shoot some really long exposures, buy the B+W 10 stop filter

DrewHopper In reply to FatalBite [2008-07-31 00:18:52 +0000 UTC]

Oh right. When you say "really long exposures" how long are we talking?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FatalBite In reply to DrewHopper [2008-07-31 10:46:14 +0000 UTC]

Well, you can do exposures as long as couple of minutes in daytime with this 10 stop filter
I guess my longest has been a little longer than 2 minutes so far.

Wonderful - I love that tree, and the water looks very cool, too.

Is there maybe a coloured version available? *pretty please*

Yes, there is a color version but I'm not going to submit it. If you want the color version, I can send it to your e-mail once you note it to me, if you like
