Hi Francois,

I've had a good think about this image now, and I retract my earlier comment saying it was a "humorous" image (on "the other site"). It is far deeper than that.

The look of displeasure on Stephie's face really says it all. Now, I see this image as being a metaphor for the way beautiful models are manipulated and exploited by the Media simply as a means to create revenue - thus turning "people" into "commodities". This changes everything. It is common knowledge that "sex sells", but at what personal cost to the model?

I have to admit that I do enjoy looking at Stephie's body; but for me, it is more "an appreciation of beauty in itself", rather than basic "eroticism". Firstly, I can fully appreciate the work Stephie has put into getting her body into such a magnificent state of fitness. It is clear to me that she "trains" on a regular basis. Secondly, this shows great dedication and a healthy outlook to life in general.

The main factor however, is that I view your images as "Artistic Compositions", where the interplay between lighting, colour and tone, textures, and inventive poses, go beyond the limited realms of "the erotic" into something which encapsulates Beauty. I now see this image with different eyes.

As you have already told me, you do not do this to make money (and say "..you are not a Professional") but the stunning images you produce are of a highly Professional standard. I think you create such images simply "for the love of your Art" alone, which deserves the utmost respect.

Perhaps I assume too much.

Hi Yan,

An art creation is never at 100% the responsability of the author, or in this case, the author and his model. It is largely the cration of the spectator, especially when the author is not a "conceptual artist" and leaves to the viewer the task to really WATCH and feel.

I have done this picture on an impulse, vaguely feeling that something was to be gained from putting together Stephie and that box. To me, it was the ever present quest of the "rupture", something graphic or intellectual (or hopefully both), that would foster EMOTIONS because they contradict themselves (I just love oxymorons and look for them everywhere). YOU, dear user of my fantasies, have given a meaning to this. And you have done a darn good job at that, telling ME something I could have seen abut hadn't. Because of that, you are as much the artist as I am.

That theme that a work of art is a semi-finished product untill the viewer completes it, is something I had already done once with Steph (the familiar name I give to Stephie). Visible here : [link] . It clearly says that the color of the painting are put there by the viewer eyes, not by the artist.

Thank you for your time and for the way you look at my work. Hope I will never disapoint you, but likely will....

Ahh - I think you flatter me too much Francois! What a wonderful and intriguing reply. I now understand your concept behind this image, and for that reason you astound me yet again.

This is indeed new and inspiring territory. Superb!

Very cool idea. It would be better if You put Your model in a big box (like those of non-flat tv's) or something and put a big sticker like "glass" or "delicate" or something Cool idea though as I said and the face expression is very sweet.

Very well done!
Nice use of the selective desaturation; very impressive photo.

Incidentally, you may consider this for the "emotive portrait" category, rather than misc. Just a thought.

Hmm, interesting. I like the concept and posing, though I might like it better with a bit stronger light. The yellow box seems very bright against the model's skin. It almost looks like the box was colored separately or that her coloring was desaturated.
