Description  This is a picture of the Graf Zeppelin on it's tour around the world in 1929 . The whole trip was 12 days and 11 minutes flying time. Since airplanes of the day could barely fly more than 500 miles (at best!) at the time, this was incredible, The longest leg of the journey was the 11,247 km, ( 7,029 miles) 101 hour 49 minute flight from Friedrichshafen to Tokyo, which crossed thousands of miles of emptiness over Siberia. The Graf had 2 more days of fuel, but decided to land not to push their luck and replenish their supplies. The picture is at their stop in Los Angeles. This is the "long view" picture of another one that had passengers posing in front of the Graf.

So wonderful to see the grand old sky goddess once again, she had class, style, and elegance--everything the Nazis lacked.  Thank for posting these and the others.

This beautiful airship was a symbol of everything us humans could ever be.   That is of course why we destroyed it.

Indeed.. those Nazi b@$t rd $ broke it up so they could turn her into bomber materials! Not surprising since Good Old Adolph hated Dr. Eckener  with a passion and would have turned him into puppy chow if he could!

The State, no matter what state it is, belonging to what country, are often the great corrupters and ruiners of dreams.
