A mind that has been touched by reality needs to delude itself, in self-preservation, basically.
But even if the mind is deluded, it already knows about reality, it has already seen it, and that delusion remains just a delusion, a futile one, that just make a person feel clouded and it doesn't help at all.
This is what I mean.
