Description A doodle of Pokey from EarthBound.
I think I do him too much justice, but I can't draw ugly things for the life of me.

He's a fat asshole that tried to help cause the apocalypse.
What's not to like?

I think it's pretty good. Maybe you could use Photoshop or some image software to lighten it up a bit though. It came out kind of dark when you scanned it. But I don't know what you mean by "I can't draw ugly things." Is there some set rule that bad things are automatically ugly? I never thought Porky was horrible or ugly in appearance. In Earthbound he looks pretty normal, just fat. So in that case, you drew him very well here

Aww, thanks.
I actually took a photo of the drawing as opposed to scanning it. This prevents it from being washed-out. I intentionally take photos of my doodles in shadows so they don't get glares on them. Most of my doodles actually look this dark, I suppose it's just a matter of preference. I don't always make them all dark though. When I'm dealing with an image that I actually care about (something that's not a doodle or sketch), I take more care into getting the lighting just right.
Well, I think his banpresto figure is pretty unpleasant to look at. I guess it's subjective.

Aww but I love it!  I have one and it makes me happy every day. A friend got it for me.

As for scanning or taking photos of your drawings, I have a suggestion. Do you have Photoshop or any image editing software? I use Photoshop so I would know how to explain that one best. Whether you scan or take a photo, open it up in your imaging software and you can use that to negate any unwanted effects the scanner or camera caused. It's really easy. If you need help with it I could do my best to give you a hand.

I love it too! But, I still think he's not particularly good looking!
You're lucky to have one. My banpresto Ninten and Loid make me happy, too. I actually displayed Ninten's box on a tissue on my desk for a while because I wanted it to stay clean and never leave my sight.

I use Paint Shop Pro 7, it's a little like photoshop and it's from the 90's. The program has features like the ones you mentioned, but I haven't actually toyed with them before. Usually I just handle it my own way via brushes or something.

I could probably show you some quicker and easier ways that will lighten and sharpen the entire image all at once. Just note me if you want a hand
