With school and everything, I was starting to think this would NEVER get done.

Clever. I would rather be in the Colonies than China...or that depends...I wouldn't want to be particularly "close" with the emperor, for fear of having my head chopped off...or getting lashed multiple times...or whatever they did back then...I'd probably be slapping both sides of my face, kneeling on the ground, and repeatedly saying that I deserve to die....

and yes, Mandarin Chinese is hard! especially when you see that different parts of a character mean simpler words. I may be Chinese but not all the characters are familiar to me.
