Description More Metro-fanart! This time with a better look on Artiom's character-design, but also at two other characters named Danila (human in the middle) and Bourbon(top right corner), and two mutants; a librarian and a dark one. (I'm not that good in drawing non-human creatures, though I'm kinda pleased with the librarian (The thing in the middle with long arms.))

And remember that this is just how I imagine them to look, it's nothing official! (Except that I took inspiration to Artiom's clothes and kinda drew Bourbon like he is looks like in the game.)

Anyway, the sketch of Artiom and Danila talking is a scene from the book, though it's not that detailed because it's just a sketch XD And Bourbon is just there to fill out some space... 8D -lol-
Aaand the book-thingy next to Danila's head is a tattoo he has, I thought it looked something like that. >w>

...Ok I'm done now, sorry for all the text D:''
Enjoy~

I think you quite nailed them, especially the librarian, it looks awesome. Only about the dark one, I imagined them very much different, but as you've said, it's hard to draw weird imagionary non-human creatures.

Ahh thank you so much! I love it when other people imagined things like I did~ 8D

And yes I think I was a little too much inspired by some other fanart that I saw of the dark ones before I drew this, I know that I actually imagined it differently when I read the book but now I can't really remember how it looked like ;w;'' I should re-make this character-sheet sometime.. Maybe.. 8D

You should totally do a remake of the dark ones, I bet it would look very much cool! Try checking the book out again or something, to help with remembering the original imagionary ...khmm, I got a bit lost here. Anyways, just keep up your awesome art!

Yeah! Have you seen the video to "First of the year" by Skrillex? The black demon-thingy in that anyway reminds me very much of how I imagined a dark one ;w;
Yes I've been thinking about re-reading the books, but I haven't managed to do so yet because there are other books that I want to read first XD

BlackSheep6 In reply to Feffelini [2012-08-17 23:18:28 +0000 UTC]

No, I haven't seen that yet. Is that a music video?
Ah, I know about that. I also have a pile of books to read and never find the time. When I do, though, I 'm quite capable of burrying myself so deep into one that I ingnore everytihng else. Either way, bad habit of mine.

Haha same! Though my reading-routine faded away a couple of months ago, so I haven't really taken the time to sit down and read XD

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

BlackSheep6 In reply to Feffelini [2012-08-18 14:27:05 +0000 UTC]

I didn't like the music but the "dark one" was quite interesting. I didn't imagine them thin and with shiny eyes but the skin was quite awesome. Oily looking. Very nice. ^^ What is the whole vid about? Is the kid some sort of a wizard or something? Anyways, I wouldn't mind having her special fighting skills.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Feffelini In reply to BlackSheep6 [2012-08-18 23:14:59 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I think their eyes in the book are described as dark holes or something, so I would imagine it look something like in the vid but with black eyes instead. c:

I think the man is supposed to be some kind of pedophile or something, but he got taught a lesson when she could take care of herself. Like.. if you do something bad, you will be punished for it sooner or later. I don't really know... exactly what it's about but I think it's something along those lines.
Haha me neither! XD

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

BlackSheep6 In reply to Feffelini [2012-08-20 16:50:50 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it says they have big black eyes with no iris or pupil or anything. And big mouths underneath the eyes. I think that's why the people in the book were so terrified, the dark ones looked like grinning, showing their teeth, threatening or something. I'll stop spamming about the dark ones now.

If that's what it is about then it's awesome. It would be great if things like that were also happening in the real world.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Feffelini In reply to BlackSheep6 [2012-08-21 00:16:01 +0000 UTC]

Yeah something like that. But I think it's fun to discuss headcanons about characters/creatures in books, so I don't mind~

Yes it would.. too bad they don't >:

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

BlackSheep6 In reply to Feffelini [2012-08-21 10:24:18 +0000 UTC]

It's fun indeed, it often leads into discovering thigs I myself didn't even notice while others did. An infamous example of that would be how I somehow always thought Artemis Fowl had blond hair. After discussing it with my friend I figured he actually has dark hair. I'm brilliant like that.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Feffelini In reply to BlackSheep6 [2012-08-21 16:09:12 +0000 UTC]

Yes exactly! I don't really know who that is but I've experienced some similar examples in Metro XD Like my friend thought that Bourbon was an really old man when he actually was almost the same age as Artyom, and for some reason it slipped my mind when I read it the first time that he (Bourbon) didn't have much hair, because at first I imagined him with long hair XD

Oh and my friend also thought that Artyom was blonde first, but.. well, it doesn't really say anywhere how his hair looks but I imagined it brown, as I've seen on all other fanart that I've stumbled across too. And is says in the book that he has dark eyes, so it felt natural to have him as a brunette, at least for me ;w; My friend changed opinion about that later though, but at the same time, one can have what kind of headcanon he/she wants, especially in books where things aren't described! I just felt like mentioning that, speaking of hair~ XD

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

BlackSheep6 In reply to Feffelini [2012-08-23 08:38:40 +0000 UTC]

Artemis Fowl is a main character in some books by Eoin Colfer... I used to like them, now I have mixed feelings about them.
I also thought Artyom was a brunette, I imagined a proper Russian boy, brown hair, brown eyes, pale skin and a suspicious bottle peeking out of his backpack.
Since we're having a huge debate on Metro, what about that dude, the stalker, you know, friend of Hunter's, I'm afaid I don't recall his name now. How did you imagine him? I didin't quite manage to imagine him well, only that he's big, has muscles and wears funny protective suits.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Feffelini In reply to BlackSheep6 [2012-08-23 11:01:22 +0000 UTC]

Oh I see. Why do you have mixed feelings about them now? o:

Haha exactly! It feels like his looks is an unwritten headcanon that everyone agrees on XD
Oh, you mean Melnik? I'm.. not really sure, I didn't have a clear image of him when I read as I can recall, but I think I imagined him with very short hair and very tall and mucular.. I know that he is better described in Metro 2034 though, but then he's in a wheelchair.. XD

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

BlackSheep6 In reply to Feffelini [2012-08-24 00:05:05 +0000 UTC]

Well, it started as a story about a sarcastic genious kid and then went more and more towards teenage-personal-growing up drama. Turned a bit soapy. And even included an everlasting love. If there's something I cannot tollerate about my sci-fi novels it's cheesyness. I just wanted to be about fancy tech stuffs and weird devices and brilliant evil plans not about some 15-year-old's crushes. I mean, if I'd want to read about that, I'd get some other kind of book.

Really? Then the authour must've nailed the description, if it makes everybody think the same thing. ^^
Yes, Melnik, thanks. Why the hell is he in a wheelchair? I sort of liked the guy. I didn't manage to read Metro 2034, they don't have it in the library. Is it true the Hunter is sort of the main character in that book? Either way, I have to get my hands on it somehow and read it.

Paradigm-Spirit [2012-06-10 23:28:00 +0000 UTC]

I love Artyom because he's a character I felt like I can relate to; growing up in an extremely hostile environment (but completely ignorant to how much it truly sucks), being sent on a mission/quest that will take him from what little family he has, trekking through hostile areas and being pushed the very edge of his limits (but still triumphing), and because, eerily, every picture of him looks like me. I don't mean this in an arrogant manner; it's just that it's kind of like staring in a mirror. Kinda freaky.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Feffelini In reply to Paradigm-Spirit [2012-06-20 21:15:02 +0000 UTC]

But he doesn't have a canon-look, how can you know that you look like him? XD Or are you thinking about fan-pictures like mine?

You do? As I can remember he was described to be about Artyom's age (23-24ish?) in the book. But yes, I didn't really know how to draw real men at that time so he looks a bit weird. Thanks anyway!

I do have to say, your version of the Librarian seems to suit the way how the book described it better than the game! Although, I might have made your Librarian a bit more muscular.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Feffelini In reply to Whachamacallit1 [2011-09-12 01:03:25 +0000 UTC]

Thank you, I'm glad you think so! I don't like how they look in the game at all..
Yeah, though I don't usually draw monsters so it was quite a challenge to draw it XD But yes, I agree with you.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Whachamacallit1 In reply to Feffelini [2011-09-12 01:11:40 +0000 UTC]

lol, that's funny. I don't usually draw humans, so I tend to have a hard time drawing them instead!
But in other news, I didn't really mind how the Librarians looked in the game. they didn't fit the description of the book, but they were still pretty cool and terrifying.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Feffelini In reply to Whachamacallit1 [2011-09-12 01:32:36 +0000 UTC]

Haha, really? I actually kind of used a human base for the librarian and made it a bit more crouched and with longer arms. And different legs, obviously.
I see, well it's ok for you to think that. I just don't like them because they didn't fit the description in the book and when I read about them I actually got a bit terrified, so I guess I had bigger expectations of how they would look in the game because they were described so well.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 0

MyGhostInTheMachine [2011-03-09 00:14:10 +0000 UTC]

I love it! Bourbon looks sneaky! Danila looks all wise and Artyum looks exactly how I imagened him. I really like your interpretation of The Dark Ones. The Librarian as brillaint, Not as I imagened them (I thought they'd be bulkier) but if you read the book carefully your drawing is almost exact to their description.
10 out of 10 for great art for a great book!

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Feffelini In reply to MyGhostInTheMachine [2011-03-12 18:46:19 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! I'm glad you like it! ยดw` โ™ฅ
And about the librarians, I kind of looked up every single description of them before I drew the picture, so that might be why~

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 0

GalooGameLady [2011-03-05 20:28:24 +0000 UTC]

Wow Danila does kinda look like that it my imagination as well
And I like how you made the librarian a bit skinny. I'm not too pleased with the ones in the game, and I thought of something similar to yours
Didn't the Black Ones have white eyes though? I can't remember...
Good to see some fanart based on the book btw

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Feffelini In reply to GalooGameLady [2011-03-06 22:23:11 +0000 UTC]

Yay, that makes me glad to hear! ^^
Ah, me neither. I really don't like the monsters in the game, they look nothing like the descriptions in the book.. :c But yeah, the librarians had a really strong impression on me, so I got clear picture on how I thought they looked like.

No, I re-read the part where they were described before I drew the picture, and it said something about it looked like big, black holes. ;w;

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

GalooGameLady In reply to Feffelini [2011-03-06 22:38:18 +0000 UTC]

Oh. I only remember it clearly saying they didn't have any pupils and they had a huge open mouth... The description is so much scarier than the ones in the game. Those are not even near as terrifying as they're supposed to be.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Feffelini In reply to GalooGameLady [2011-03-07 18:49:37 +0000 UTC]

Hmm... yeeeah.. maybe you're right.. I don't remember, it was a while since I read it ehe XD
And yes, wtf is up with their design in the game? They just look wierd, not scary at all.
I remember when I read about them the first time in the book and I was sitting on a train in a dark tunnel.. I almost stopped reading because they sounded so creepy and I almost thought that they would be outside my window XD

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

GalooGameLady In reply to Feffelini [2011-03-07 19:09:22 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I was reading it on the train too XD (No tunnels though)
But I brought it to class with me, where we were watching videos in a cinema-kind of room, in creepy darkness. (I could barely read BUT I HAD TO) Was long time ago since I've read something as frightening-chilling-exciting-epic as this one. (Maybe Arthur C. Clarke's Childhood's End had some similar effects on me)
The only things I really liked in the game were the metro cars. Those blue, wrecked cars. We have the exact same blue ugly metro cars here in the metros of Budapest. Was really creepy to see Artyom walking around in those (Even the insides are the same!... Only less dead monsters and ghosts.)
